Did anybody with a modified exhaust disconnect their battery to reset the PCM. I kinda noticed a little less low-end torque after modifying my exhaust system. Will it hurt to disconnect the battery for an hour to reset the PCM ?

you could reset the PCM but that's not why you have no power. you have no power because you have too little back pressure at low rpms. at high rpms there will be a gain but off the line you're now going to lag considerably from stock.

I did Duals on my R/T no loss of Torque a gain if any thing. I did disconnect the battery because of welding was done. If they did any welding it can screw up the PCM. You only have Disconnect the Battery for 10 min to reset it. You can open the Exhaust to much and loss Torque. I had a Speed shop do mine not one of those fly by night muffler shops.

Interesting, the stock Mopar exhaust is actually already perforamnce tuned for the 3.2L and 3.5L from my understanding. Yeah, I'd have a performance shop do it. Make sure you got something that will work well with your vehicle. You can try resetting the PCM Adaptive Learn Routine and see if it makes a difference. I had adverse effects after installing a K&N air filter in my 99 ES 3.2L but I didn't have time at the time to reset the PCMALR. I'm going to try it again. I probably wouldn't hurt to try.

(is this right, or am i an idiot...) not exactly sure, but welding is closing a circuit with a little string of metal, right? maybe surges of electricity conducting through the pipes-->manifold-->block from welding would have somehting to do with messing up the PCM.

I have a question along the same lines but not concerning the exhaust system. I've heard of disconnecting the battery to clear up transmission shift gripes. Is there any truth to this and if so can it be done without any adverse effects?

Well I did it and noticed it shifted differantly, but I think to do it is a waist of your time because you are going to go back to your regular driving style and the tranny will go back to the way it was.

it is extremely helpful if you are not the original owner or driver of the vehicle. my intrepid was owned by my parents before i bought it and their driving styles both differ considerably from mine. i reset the PCM and it made a fantastic change. now the tranny shifts as i want it to, not as 2 other people taught it to. i'd recommend this simple procedure if you're a 2nd or 3rd owner.

Well my exhaust is welded and it lags power off the line (baackpressure is a b*tch) so would it be worth it to reset my PCM? Also i am like the 3rd owner of this car so maybe i should try it.
