Took on this Dakota SLT (not sure which V8 he had, could have been the 5.9) on the way home from work at 6am. We had just entered this toll road and I went to the left lane as did the Dakota owner. He decided to just sit on his $#% in the left lane. Once the right lane opened up, I went there to pass and he decided to try and keep up with me.
He kept up for a little while, but then it was no contest. He kept getting smaller in the rearview mirror. Before I knew it, I had the speedo pegged at the max, must have been at least 125 or 130mph. You have to really watch those slight curves at that speed and make sure you make no sudden moves. Before you ask, I only drive like this when there is very little other traffic around, I am not totally crazy (HA HA). I was keyed up for a while after I got home, WHAT A RUSH to go that fast.

I have yet to top out in my Intrpid, I belive the fastest I've been is around 95, still pretty fast for a car this size.

My wife used to own a '98 canary yellow Dodge Dakota Sport Ext cab with the 5.2L V8. That puppy moved, plus it had a some kind of lift kit, sat a few inches higher than the rest of the bunch. Personally the best lookin truck on the road, sure miss the old girl...will own another one day.

Good kill! BTW, even if it was an R/T it might have been an interesting race. I know someone who has a Dakota R/T and i wasnt all that impressed with its performance...maybe his is shitty or something, i dunno

The Dakota`s and Ram`s all have a limiter to about 105mph. Some of the R/T Dakota`s are fast of the line. But don`t rev very high about 4,500 rpm and run out of breath. They well jump use off the line to about 35 mph and then we will catch them at 60 to 70 mph. On the hwy its no match the Intrepids R/T`s well walk on any Dakota R/T`s. Good kill the only truck i worry about are those dam Ford Lighting`s one fast mother of a truck. About 140 mph to ends.
