Another night around town, and another car goes down. I was driving around with my friend Becky, and earlier by bud Taylor, but he took his G5 home. So I pull up to the intersection of 94/364 Over Pass and Upper Bottom. I was going to go under the over pass and left onto the outer road to go west 94, the main 2 lane each 55MPH road through St Charles, which going east turns into the new 364. So I'm at the over pass red light, and up comes a 2005 Nissan Altima. The color was Pebble Beach (brownish metallic), with tinted windows and tails, and the 3.5L engine. I had a feeling a race was goin' to go down. Green light it is, we both floor it, and both in the left turn lanes to go under the over pass (the Trep sounded great in that mini tunnel), and then onto the outter road. It was pretty much who ever got to the end of the outter road would win, since 2 lanes into 1. It was side by side and I started to pull away and got to the merged lane, and he proceded to challenge me when we got onto 94, mind you this was about 12 at night, no traffic at all. Speeds approching 85 or 90, and I got it, as he slowed down, and proceded to make a right at the Harvester intersection. Another car beaten. 3-0 (2-0 if I don't count the mini race I had against my friend's Pontiac G5 GT a few weeks ago).

I dont see why everyone judges numbers to challenge everything. Ive seen civics defeat the likes of mustangs, which on paper shouldnt happen. I myself have defeated cars which I should have been spanked by. More than likely a bad driver, but a kill is a kill. If that was an excuse in Nascar, a lot of things would be overturned.'

Congrats on the kill STCDodge94!

But then you have the question of what's a legitmate kill? Is it still a kill when the other guy isn't even racing / trying?

I've passed countless Corvettes, M5s, AMGs on the highway, should I claim them all as "kills" simply by saying, "hey, anything could happen. The M5 was running on 5 cylinders out of 10, the AMG driver slipped off the gas, the Lambo driver shifted into neutral by mistake"...

Let's keep it realistic guys and say if another car is faster by 20%+ on paper, a kill is highly unlikely.

I have a friend with an 06 altima with the 3.5 and that thing FLIES..beats me off the line and I never have a hope of catching with my 3.2.

I'm actually looking at possibly getting an altima as my next car. My 2000 trep only has ~60k on it so it's got plenty of life left..maybe another 2 years or so.

If the guy was obviously looking to race, then its a race. And in this case it wasnt just that the other guy mistakenly revved his engine. This was a mutual non-verbal agreement to go at it. If on a drag race on paper racer A is better than racer B, and racer B wins because racer A decided he would let off the gas.......racer B is the winner.

No matter how you look at it and what gear you miss, or what shift spot you go into, a loss is a loss. Your mistake is the other persons advantage. If I lost like that, I would consider it a kill from the other persons part.

Just my 2 cents.

Dont worry STC, dont let anyone down your kill. Its a win, no matter how you play it out.

That Altima time is for the manual.
I've seen 1g 3.5L Intrepids run 16.0 1/4's. I'm not gonna fly the BS flag.......it might be possible?

Cut me some slack Rob. I've run 15.8 in a 1st gen LHS. LOL!.:bigok:

Back to the Altima. SCT saw what he saw. He is not saying he can beat all or even the next 3.5L Altima but there was some action and he claims he won that time, that night. I know and have seen many drivers or times some people just can NOT cut the numbers with their cars. Especially traction limited cars and manual trans cars. Have you read my Taraus vs minivan thread?

As for the 3.5L LH vs the 3.5L Altima. My uncle has one. It's an 05, auto and it feels faster. Down low, from a roll, drag, passing etc.

Never had the 2 side but one time I was following him and he went to pass someone. I got into the LHS, full throttle and that Nissan was pulling away.
Funny part is, my uncle has zero racing genes in his blood. A very laid back driver.

Yeah, seriously, "I've seen 1g 3.5L Intrepids run 16.0 1/4's?"...

I've run a consistent 15.6-15.7 and know other members on here with 1st Gen 3.5's who run in those times as well.

Jeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeez.
