Stopped by the Dodge dealer to get my oil changed and tires rotated Saturday, May 8th and lo and behold the General Manager was there and said he had a surprise for me. They just received the SRT-10 Truck and a pair of Magnums. The Magnums were in pre-delivery inspection. I asked if they were driven from the storage lot and he said yes, the silver one is tagged. He then said I could take it out when they were done.

This building is in the far back of the dealership (was formerly a car wash / detail shop).

After the GM went to the sales side the service manager told me to go out back and check them out.

One was metallic silver and the other inferno red.

The silver one was 28,300 and was loaded with leather, heated seats, sunroof etc. I'm not sure if it had the nav system.

The red one was about the same minus the leather / heated seats. Low 27's.

Both the manufacturers price sticker had 'HOLD FOR PREMIER NIGHT' on it.

I was surprised by how much better it looked in person than in pictures. Very muscular, hunkered down look.

Lots of room. I'm 6-3 1/2 so I put the frontseat all the way back
and went to the back seat. Plenty of room, not as much as the wife's Concorde, but still a comfortable fit. Adjustable pedals and
tilt / telescoping steering wheel. I liked that.

The back area has an adjustable storage / floor surface that can be configured several ways to maximize space. Pretty nifty.

The fit and finish was stellar. I hope this is how they all come out
but everything fit perfectly. The dash is nice, the controls (a/c, radio, cruise etc.) are right where they should be.

Now for the good stuff. The detail guy took it over to the sales side looking for me while I was in the service area. When I got back to the sales side the salesman said hop in, I'll take you for a ride. I replied (with the GM standing next to the car) ok, but I'm driving and away we went.

I only drove it about 20 miles but it's tight. The 3.5 has a much better low end response than our 'Treps. The tranny as well
seemed like a different tranny even though we all know it's been modded for rwd. Shifts much quicker. I nailed it on an exit ramp
and got it up to 80 at the end (it's a looping 'C' that cuts back to an 'S' when it reaches the main blvd). Slowed down to about 55 and the salesman said to nail it again so I shot it up to 90 - 95
and backed down because of traffic.

Tracked well through the exit, better than expected. I didn't have any problem with rear vision as well. The roof doesn't have as much impact for blind spots as you might think. You can see better
than in the 2nd gen lh cars.

I had to get it back (they put it back under covers), but I was quite impressed. Can't wait to drive the Hemi.

Once I got back, the service manager told me to take it to the pdi garage but then yelled stop. He said turn off the traction / stability control and smoke 'em. Well, the salesman leaned over and turned it off so I did lay a little one. I didn't want to push my luck. Should have powered braked it and let it go.

I wished I could have kept it out longer but I'm glad I got to
drive it. The GM said premier night will be in June now.

Otto & YB - job well done.

Oh yeah, the SRT-10 is cool to the max !!!

Made my day. Can't wait to drive that Hemi. I hope the salesman doesn't go next time. Oh I forgot to mention it had 39 miles on it when I took it out.

I really didn't like the interior of the Magnum all that much.actually I liked the 300 much better it's more like the Intrepid than the Magnum IMO,hell you can't even get fog lights on the Magnum SXT whats up w/ that???

Didn't know about the fog lights. I haven't been in a new 300 yet.

The dealer only had the 2 SXT's, no R/T's yet.
