first I used generic cd's worked for a while then stoped switched to memorex they worked for a while now they stoped? or maybe they never worked I forget. It is set for CD not DVD. but remember it wont even read a cd-rom not sure if I said they yet but it wont read Any type of CD only DVDs but the specs says it can read CDs/DVDs and CDRWs and all that stuff. Any ideas? I will switch brands again and see if that helps
You may be in the same boat I was a while back. I used to only use generic cd's and dvd's to burn with. After a while my burner stopped burning cd's. It still did dvd's but not cd's. I did some research on the error codes I was getting and it's the cheap media that killed the burner. You get what you pay for - buy good media. I only use Ritek. I had to buy a new burner. No problems with it now.
i never heard of ritek, i have been using only lite-on optical drives for years, with teh exeption of 2 pioneers, i mostly used verbatim back in the day now only dynex (best buys house brand) cant beat 100 dvd-r's for like 8 bucks, i have not had one issue yet with them or the drives
Ritek is the brand for blank dvd's and cd's. It's one of the top brands out there along with Taiyo Yuden. Look for the G05 type. Verbatim, Maxell, and all the electronics store house brands are all garbage. Everytime you use those kinds you are doing harm to your burner. When you use those types in your cd player, car stereo, Playstation etc. you are hurting those devices too. Mainly killing the lasers off prematurely. Like I said, when my burner died last year I did a ton of research and the crappy blanks do a lot of harm to whatever you use them in. Plus they won't last as long in the long run.
