My e-brake's been doing this intermittently for the past couple of weeks: when I'd press the e-brake pedal, there'd be no resistance, and it would go straight to the floor, as if the cablehad snapped. It would kinda get stuck there, and I'd have to jiggle it around a bit to get it to come back up. Then I'd try it again, and it'd work just fine. It kept happening more often, and now it's gotten to the point where if I apply the e-brake about half way or so and then release it, and do this a few times in a row, eventually I can feel the tension return to the cable again and then it works just fine for a while. It's like there's some sort of ratchet effect working on the cable or something. Any idea what's going on?

No, but why do you use your E-Brake all the time?
There are a lot of steep hills here, and not a lot of good flat places to park. Half the city is on the side of a hill.
