So, I got myself a second vehicle (again)... this one I'm buying from my Ex. It all started by just borrowing the car for a few days. She knew my Intrepid was down and offered to let me drive it to which I happily obliged! But then.. after driving it a couple days, something happened. I fell in love with it! OMG! This is one awesome little sports car! I asked her about selling it to me and she said "it's yours!" She's giving me a great deal on it (special baby momma price!) Her and her husband both just got brand new cars and the RX8 was just sitting. "It needs to be driven" she says.. She says she's glad I'm getting it because she wanted someone who'll take care of it and appreciate it. I got this!
2004 Mazda RX8 GT
These are some of the features I love about this car... just imagine that 238 horse power in a rear wheel drive car that's about 500lbs lighter than an Intrepid ES, but with a 6 spd manual transmission! Pure driving sex!
238hp 1.3L Renesis Rotary engine
Rear wheel drive
6Spd manual transmission
Power heated leather seats w/power lumbar
Power moonroof
Factory HID projector headlights!
Rear suicide doors FTMFW!
The car does have a couple cosmetic issues, but nothing too serious. One being the paint on the top is severely oxidized. Might need some paint if I can't buff it out.. She bought the car brand new in 2004, but then suddenly got deployed to an 18 month stay in Iraq, where the car just sat out in the open sun the whole time back in Texas. That, and the front lower bumper valance/skirt/airdam thingy is broken. (already priced this part out @ 120 bucks on fleabay) But might need a whole front bumper cover as this one has broken clips etc. Also missing one of the pieces of the rear bumper. (Found that online as well @$69)
And that's it!!!
This is a mean little machine! All the regular scheduled maintenance was done on time and has only ever been dealer serviced. 92k miles on the clock and runs perfect! Just recently had a new "F1 Racing clutch" installed (I have no idea how the stock clutch feels in comparison to this one, but I can tell you this one feels amazingly grabby and strong) And as you can imagine, I've been reading up on the rotary engines. Read all the horror stories - every car has them... I think this one has been well taken care of, and according to what I've been reading, the rebuilds aren't all that bad on these engines anyway. The car is nice enough for it to be worth it to invest and fix... if it ever needed a new engine/rebuild. I'm all in! This is such a sporty, super fast and fun car to drive! The 6spd makes me feel young again! This might just be my mid-life crisis car or whatever... but I love it!!
The rotary engine is amazing! I've never felt anything rev like this before. You can really piss wind this thing! It redlines at 8500 RPM and I've read that they actually recommend you redline every so often to keep all the carbon blown out etc. The engine also, by design, burns oil naturally. They do this brand new... naturally burn oil right off the showroom floor. So rotary owners are to always keep extra oil to top off with. (There's also a debate on whether synthetic is not good because it doesn't burn.) ---> stuff I'm learning about... I joined up over at www.rx8club.com where there's a giant following for this car. That and the aftermarket performance parts market is also huge for this car! Wow! Big difference from our "enthusiast/performance" following on the LH cars...
Anyway... without further ado, I give you (I haven't come up with a name for her yet, but I'm thinking something that starts with an R... (My Ex's name is Rachel who I'm buying it from) and, well, it IS an RX.... maybe I should name it Rex? Naw... how bout Ravin? She is black.. sexy black)
