OK, now I know this has been discussed before, and I could not find the exact answers through previous posts.

What are the +/-'s of adding antifoam to the motor? How much does it run? Is it a permanant additive or must it be continuously be added like a fuel treatment? Where is it added and what effects are felt if any from it? Worth the time and money?

My motor is at 70k ('98 3.2L). I had read about it smoothing out the shifting between gears and making the engine run more smoothly. Just wondered how true this all is. I appreciate the feedback. Thanks guys.

Do you mean anti-foam for the tranny???

I never heard of anti-foam for the engine.

it is for your transmission, not your engine. I have put three 1-ounce bottles into my 2000ES and the difference is noticable. The third bottle didn't really do anything so just stick with two bottles.

The mopar part # is 4549637, $3.05/ea. Simply take out yout trans fluid tube and put the stuff in. It takes a few days to work but you will like it. Realy firms up the shift.

You can buy it at any Mopar parts counter.

Whoops, yeah, I meant that other part under the hood! Anti-foam for the Tranny!

So, I only need to add a couple of bottles?

Does it need to replaced at any time?

I drove mine all last winter with it no problems. You only add more if you get the tranny oil changed. Use only 2 bottles of it. I know of no down side of use it.

yeah, I put in the third just to see what happened, no difference at all, two is the magical number and since it will only set you back $6.00 it's a great mod

just an FYI, I had trouble finding it at the Dodge dealers, had no trouble finding it at Chrylser dealers though they all had it in stock

And if it's so good.. why wouldn't it have been put in at the factory...

yes it is the transmission dipstick tube, the bottles are only 1-ounce each and fit right into the tube opening

As for why doesn't Dodge put it in at the factory, the majority of Intrepid owners (not on this site, just owners in general) do not buy this car for performance, they want a full size car with decent power and fuel economy, therefore a hard shift would be objectionable to them.

My friend is a mechanic at a Chrysler dealer, he was the one who told me about his stuff first, he says a lot of Ram truck guys swear by this stuff. He also said that a lot of caravan owners put this in to help with towing as well.

His reasoning is that if it was bad for the transmission MOPAR would label it for off road use only.

Wouldn't "hard shifting" be annoying in everyday driving?

I have a 98 2.7L. I don't race it or anything like that but I don't drive it like a granny either. Should I get some of this antifoam stuff? Does it at all help the transmission last longer? shift smoother? make it quiter? etc etc

under "normal" driving you wil never know its there, you will feel the difference when you are hitting upshifts or downshifts higher than 1/2 throttle
