Ok I got my EVIC installed. Thanks again to Intrepidatious for helping me out (well actually doing most of the wiring work). ;)

Here are some pics. Notice the Menu button which replaces the US/M button on the OTIS.

In all actuality... you can probably swap out an OTIS for an EVIC in less than 10 minutes. All you have to do is just unscrew it from the frame, pull it down, remove the three connectors of the OTIS, and just connect the EVIC in its place and screw back in.

I am pretty sure the EVIC and the OTIS use the same connectors. My father wants an EVIC for his 300m, but im sure they are very hard to get.

I know DJPill was getting nervous cutting into that headliner. (Or were you more nervous with the 500 wires sitting all over the place?) :) All in all it was a good time. Whatta difference it makes, eh?

You gotta get a picture of the comp/temp display, the numbers and letters are completely pixelated so they show up twice as large and much more pleasing to the eye.

Yeah... actually I was more nervous cutting into the headliner than all the wires hanging out. I didnt want to cut too much and have this gaping hole in the roof... LOL

Believe it or not, as the day went on... I got more familiar with how it was wired, so having all those wires out didnt really bother me. I think I actually knew what they all did... even though all that splicing you did to the pink wire still confuses me a little. LOL

Yeah ill try to get a pic of the compass on there. I dont have a digital camera and I have to bug my sister to use hers. The first thing im getting when I get my tax refund is a good digital camera. ;)

Hahaha yeah its ok... we kinda get caught up in the moment of celebrating that this thing actually worked on the FIRST TRY installing. LOL

I showed my father the console today, after getting the car pampered at the auto detailer. He was very jealous, he wants one on his 300m.

I have an OTIS on my 98 Intrepid ES and i was wondering if I find an EVIC to put in it, will all of the functions of the EVIC work on my car?
Unfortunately, no. You have to have a 2001 or newer LH car in order to have all the functions work. They started using a new body computer that year.

I don't think they will. There was a computer upgrade on the 2001 models (the R/T for sure... not sure bout the ES or SE) that will allow the EVIC to work on my R/T. I pretty much share the same computer the 300m has. Im 99% positive it will not work on your 98 ES.

However.... if you manage to get your hands on an EVIC... ill be more than happy to take it off your hands for a price. My dad wants the EVIC console in his 300m now that he sees it on my ride. Hahahahaha

The upgraded EVIC is the one that comes with the 300m special. I believe its the same as the EVIC I have.... except it will give you tire PSI for all four tires.

However, after talking to Otto about this... the tire PSI function actually has four separate wires running to all four tires (or somewhere close) that gives you the reading. Just plugging in this EVIC into my R/T will not give me tire PSI unless I have those four wires run.

Ok here goes....

OTIS = Overhead console that gives you all basic features (Avg MPG, Instant MPG, Distance to Empty, Compass, Temp, Trip Odometer)
- Cars that have it: 98+ Intrepid ES, 2002 R/T, 98+ Concorde, 98+ Base 300M, 98+ LHS???

EVIC = Pixelated overhead console that gives you everything an OTIS has (but spelled out.. ex: Instant Miles/Gallon), also has Menu button to program certain things on the car like auto door lock, headlight delay, etc etc.
- Only found on a 300M that has the Luxury Package (I have this one)
- Will only work on an '01-02 R/T

Upgraded EVIC (not sure of the name) = Same as the EVIC above, but also gives you tire PSI for all four tires
- Only found on 300M special
- Will only work on an '01-02 R/T - PSI reading requires special wiring

Hope this helps, ill try to get a pic of what my compass and temperature looks like this weekend so you can compare the pixelated version against the non-pixelated.
