Three letters.....WOW!

OK, picked up a Meguiars Quik Clay detailing kit with clay bar, some Meguiars Show Car glaze #7, and some Meguiars Gold Class clear coat wax.

First washed here down good. Then the real work began... Started on the hood with the clay bar, followed it up with the polish, then a coat of wax. Dang! Smooth as silk!

Follwed that procedure along the whole car, doing sections at a time, fenders, doors, rear, etc.

All in all, took me 6-7 hours of cleaning. The clay bar in my opinion was the most work as I went over most spots twice with it. Polishing and waxing was a breeze. I also took the time to remove the tiers to undercoat the wheel wells, clean the tires and rims, and shine them up with some Black Magic tire dressing.

Car looks like new, feels like it came off the showroom floor! Smoother than glass! I am extremely happy with the outcome. Lots of work, feeling the soreness today, but well worth the time and effort.

I'll try to post a pic of two later, not that they'll do much justice, as seeing it and feeling it in person is the only way to really appreciate it.

For a ride that's almost 6 years old has nearly 100k on it, looks new as the day she was born!

it's a block of clay that you use to remove contaminants from the paint. Non-abrasive, yet sticky enough to pull off rail dust, bug guts, tree sap etc. Also very good for fine scratches - the light material you see is damaged clear coat particles - so the clay bar pulls them out of the scratch so that applications of waxes or polymers helps to fill-in the scratch.

very highly recommend the Zaino products

and McGuiars makes one too, I've used both and both are great.:)

Candyman - If the weather in Cleveland is like the Weather in St. Augustine, it will rain now. I spent about 5 hours yesterday cleaning and waxing, just in time for the regularly scheduled Monday afternoon thunderstorm. This morning - showcar!, this afternoon - mud-spattered.

So far so good Sterlingfan! I know the feeling though.

Chance of scattered rain almost everyday, most likely on Wednesday, I sure will be hurt when it does rain, that's a long time dedicated to have it get dirty right away!

I was mad when a drip of water hit the windshield from an overpass on my way home from work today! Dag-gone orange barrel season! Nothing but dust and water!

It really is hard to tell just how smooth the car is from a pic. The only thing I can say is it has one nice reflection off the side of the car of the landscaping, the light pole, address sign and mailbox at the end of the driveway.

You can check it out in my gallery page:

So what do you do when you clay bar? Do you check the surface for sap, etc., and then what? Is the clay bar an "eraser" picking up the surface dirt and you don't need to do anything afterwards, or does it create a residue that you then have to clean off? Do you then have to polish after you've used the bar?
