Last night idle at a stoplight I noticed a flicker on the car infront of me and look down to see my gauges were flickering and so were my headlights...the rpm's stayed the same, just the lights. It went away once on the freeway but again on a side street home the lights began to flash again? almost flickering to the bumps in the road leading me to think of a loose wire. weird and not good to be driving at night with all my lights flickering bright to dim and sometimes off completely. I searched the site but only found people saying the dimmer control switch is corroded but that would have nothing to do with my headlights flickering. Someone else thought a cut in their neg. bat. cable was the problem but I don't think that would do it either. Still I checked all wires and even the fuse boxes...found nothing unusual. I crawled under the dash and shook things while someone watched for the problem but nothing happened. Someone said it's the ignition starter switch that has a wire loose...i'm going to pull some panels and check things out. Anybody had this intermittent problem...driving to work this morning it was totally fine. :icon_neut

my car used to do the EXACT same thing. It turns out my negative battery wire was carotid. I took the clamp apart and cleaned it with a wire brush. Make sure to get all the white crap off..

Cars runs perfectly now.

Hope I found the problem.....

Trying to make a sharp turn the other night I noticed the wheel "got caught" on something so i quickly turned the otherway and felt like what was stuck suddenly got unstuck. Then I parked at work and later in the day someone told me my brakelights were on...WTF? how can my brakelights be on i'm think? It drained my battery and need a jump and the lights still weren't going off. Soooo I stick my head under the steering column with plenty of lights and see something just hnaging there...it's the "button" that attaches near the brake pedal to trigger the brakelights on and off. Thats obvioulsy the reason the lights were on and drained my battery but what made it break in the first place was my next thought. WELL for those of you that ran a power wire thru the grommet in the firewall use caution and make sure it is tied up well. My power wire for my amps was ran thru the grommet in the firewall and somehow became loose. On the steering column at the knuckle there is a cotter pin that sticks out and caught on the wire stopping me from being able to turn the other night and also popped out the brakelight button.EVEN worse that wire pulled loose at the fuse near the battery and the live wire was simply bouncing around in my engine compartment which is what I think cause the flickering and flashing the other night. I completely ripped out the wiring and haven't had a problem since. Thanks for the comments and info
