I was browsing around on carparts.com and noticed the Flomaster 40 series was designed for the intrepids, but you could put an 80 series on them. I noticed on the descriptions of the 80 Series that it gives your car that muscle car rumble. Do any of you have 80 series on your cars? 40 or 50 series? What is the difference. I notice there is a HUGE difference in price between the 40 and 80 series prices.

Thanks.

i have a 40 series on my 3.5 and i love the sound. nice and deep at idle, and quite loud inside of the car. to my understanding, the 80 series is a little larger in size compared to the 40, and the interior noise that it creates is much less.
let me tell you, the 40 series at highway speeds and regular driving, this car is much louder inside; like a constant, low droning. (absolutely no resemblance to say a honda civic with the cats ripped out and a coffee can exhaust tip) the sound outside is very different and distinctive. as i drive by under normal acceleration, it definetly has a very pronounced muscle car sound (very much like a late model camaro with similar exhaust). it growls loudly...if i ride past parked cars with the throttle taching at maybe 1500k, the resonance of the exhast has a very low octave, and tends to set off car alarms from a distance. and of course, wide open throttle, at a certain RPM, it makes loud, raspy sounds distinctive of that lovely little orange dodge charger on the TV with that big ass confederate battle flag painted on the roof (you know which car im talking about, and if you dont, quit watching PBS) thats my experience, i am happy with it, and i havent noticed any significant drop off of the line with this exhaust setup (entire exhaust system cut out from catalytic converter, replaced with a single 2.5" pipe bent to fit, with a 40 series on the end).
thou, you can check out the R/T section...some dude has a really nice setup with an 80 series, single in to duals behind the cats.
