I have searched far and wide for a solution to this. I have tried other dodge solutions as well as a couple of jeep solutions for this without prospering.

Before we get harsh about it being illegal, in my state it is illegal on the highways only to have 4+ lights. As well as I live in a rural area where open fields and wooded area are full of deer hence the need. Also my fog lights here soon will be HID projector fog lights that will make a HUGE difference.

I just am looking for a simple solution to this problem I have tried:

Just breaking a pin on the fog lamp relay. - Didn't work at all, but was worth a try

Worked on one fog light but could not turn it off afterwards because the power was always going through.


Any simple solutions? Or possibly a guide? I would be very grateful on any help!

I would have to go back and look through the wiring diagrams again to see if there could be a way to alter the circuit to let you do it, but you could just wire the fog relay directly to an aftermarket switch instead of the factory one. That would be my solution.

I couldn't follow the links. Are you wanting to just run fogs only? (When they arrive?)

I agree with your solution. Perhaps a specially constructed bezel added to the inside of the console to house the switch in the CD storage area. Who uses CD's anymore?

perhaps even a dual mode switch position for normal and attack!

If you're in the mood for a little fun you could add it to the headlight switch. Euro models had a second slider wheel for headlight leveling controls. On ours that area is just dead space on the front as well as inside the switch.

You can look it up in the parts manuals and FSM, it's true. A few of us tried to get our hands on one in the states but mopar parts here doesn't stock and won't order them for you. I did get myself a VIN to a french M to give it another go to see if they'd import Euro parts, but didn't follow through. I'm sure it would be crazy expensive even if they'd do it.

No offense, but foglights shine at the ground under the fog, and I don't see how they would help to see down the road or to the sides for deer. I live in the a similiar environment and fogs don't help with seeing deer. I guess whatever floats your boat.

I am doing a projector retrofit. They will be aimed differently and they will also have an H1 HID kit in them as well. It will be way more beneficial than the normal fog lights would be.

Now I am not very electrically inclined you'd have to go into more detail about this! I am intrigued

Still looking for a solution. I have read about have a power lead from the high beams to the fog lights, but that seems to me like drawing too much power from one place. Also have read about possibly bi-passing the relay that turns them off. I have absolutely no idea about doing this!

I am not electrically inclined.

I know that I and several others would pay to get our hands on that switch. I've wanted to use that extra switch for controling custom lighting in a stock look.

So to do this is fairly straight forward, but will require adding a relay, running some wires, splicing into factory wiring in a few spots, and installing a switch. I'll have to take some time to go through the FSM for specifics on which wire but I can give you the basic run down now.

If you use a 5 pin relay you can set yourself up so that the factory switch will still work, and the new switch you install will function like an override/bypass to turn the fogs on manually. The only thing I'm not sure about there is the simplest way to physically splice back into the factory relay power path. I know it can be done, just need to figure out the best way.

Anyways, here's the plan. Run a wire from your switch in the cabin to the remote trigger of the relay, with the switch spliced into 12V on ignition on the other end. Ground the relay wherever is convenient near where you place it, that completes the switch circuit.

Run your own 12V power to the relay. If we can easily hijack the run that normally goes to the factory relay this gets easier. You break that circuit (cut the wire) and connect the hot side to the power for the relay. Then you connect the other side to the 5th pin on your relay that is powered when the remote trigger is off. This lets the relay just pass through when it's off and the can functions as stock. Hook up the fogs power directly to your new relays last pin that is powered when the relay is triggered.

I would be more than happy to do it for you if we make it to a meet together. I have all the supplies on hand so it wouldn't really cost me anything.
