I am running 2000 Server...every time I start the system....my SMTP and World Wide Web Publishing Services hang and eventually fail. What the F?? I can't even restart them. I have reinstalled the system twice and they still do it every time.

To top it off, I wanted to install FTP today so I could set up a FTP site for my MP3's...and the system hangs when it tries to configure FTP with IIS. Anybody have any similar problems? It's really cheesing me off. Any help is appreciated.

Well, I disabled both of the services and was able to install FTP...but those services are still disabled. Why all the trouble with those two?

What do your event logs say?

Reboot your system, then take a look at the red and yellow entries that are entered after the reboot. Post them here if you'd like me to take a look at them for you.

Otherwise, you can always go to the KB and pop 'em in there. Step 1 = IIS5. Step 2 = Keywords using All Words. Step 3 = 1234 (The EventID). If you can't find anything good under IIS5, change Step 1 to W2K.
