Continuing the theme of factory look-a-like mods, I decided to add a reading lamp to the passenger front assist handle. I used a rear assist handle reading lamp as the donor.

I cut out the light holder in the rear donor and a corresponding hole in the front assist handle. I also had to cut a hole in the roof cavity behind the handle to accommodate the lamp holder.

After sanding both parts to fit I used a dab of superglue to temporarily hold them together then permanently bonded them with 3M plastic repair kit.

Finished by sanding and filling the seam with superglue and the dust from sanding. Finally lightly painted the handle to complete the mod.

I did add one other feature to the handle. The rear lights have a switch to turn the light on manually, and I wanted to do that too. I took the switch apart from it's mounting bracket and attached it with the 3M adhesive to the back of the handle and drilled a hole for the switch button. I had to carve out a bit of the handle back to get the button to go through the hole.

I fished the wires to the rear light and spliced into the harness there.

I like the "factory look" of it and it functions perfect, adding a nice touch of light to the passenger cabin area.

Looks good! Can't even tell from the last pictures that it was a cut and filled addition.
