I recently noticed my gas gauge will beep and the needle will go down to zero then immediately back up to full. The gas tank is full and it happens every 3 or 4 miles. I'm wondering if it's a sensor and if anyone has heard of this problem. I have a 2000 Intrepid RT with 66k.

i believe that the sensor is built into the fuel pump, dont think you can change them out seperatly. Did you try the key trick to see if it has any codes? (the link to how to do that is in the how to section)

only other thing i can think of is did you add any electronics lately involving the dash area? maybe loosened a plug or snipped a wire?

BTW welcome to the site!!

Had the same problem a year after I bought my 2000. Was the fuel sensor which is actually in the tank. They had to drop the gas tank to replace it. Thankfully was a warranty job. Some gas (in Canada it's SHELL), gum up the sensors with the additives they put in.
