go fast?

So I have been a member for a couple of weeks now and I have done a lot of reading and searching. BUT, I haven't seen much on mods that make these great cars go faster! So I would like to ask about what you guys have been doing.

There is plenty to be done, just not anything like on the more commonly modified cars.

Intake, intake spacer, bored throttle body, bored lower intake manifold, exhaust, under drive pulley, and transmission gears are all pretty buck bolt on modifications that are tried and true. You can also upgrade the ecm to one from a 300m special because you have an 02.
Depends on your definition of 'fast'
4.0 stroker.

What are the differnces in the 300m special? Is it just the PCM?

well I know our cars are a bit heavy!LOL But I also know I don't want to be the slowest guy at the show!!!LOL

4.0 stroker.
I have heard of it and still haven't found out all of the how too's? what crank? what pistons? what rods? rings, rod and main bearings?

also has any one tried to have their cams reground for better lift or duration? any hotter ignition coils? any one tried to build a custom intake? what about headers? true duel exhaust? yes I have a BUNCH of questions LOL!!!
Your best bet may be to look over build threads of users that have been here a long time. See who has done swaps, changed their exhaust, put either a j-intake on or a K&N intake, who has done what for weight reduction.

Are you talking fast as in straight line power? Or fastest round the track?
Yes that is the right thing, the year does matter though. 02 was the most agressively tuned special, with 03 being the next best, and 04 the most conservative.

More advanced projects like the 4.0 stroker require a lot of do it yourself innovation. There isn't a tutorial on exactly the right way to go with anything like that but it can be done.

You really just need to search more, but certain things will be missing. To my knowledge nobody here is running different cams, but it's been talked about a lot.
There was a parts list posted on the Stroker build.

You need the crank, rods and pistons from a 4.0L V6 that was using in the pacific and nitro models.

You'll need to either bore the 3.5 block out to accept the 4.0 crank mains, or mill the crank to accept 3.5 mains. Otherwise it all bolts together like a normal car. There is one slight thing to address, which is the rods touch on the bottom of the block throughout rotation. Either file the rods a bit (not recommended if they all balance out perfectly) or the block. Create an extra bit of clearance.

Check out the two build threads for more info on it.

Our cars are actually respectively fast. The only things that keep up or pass me are modified muscle cars or forced air induction. Otherwise these cars gobble up ricers. The show is always full of Honda's or Chevy's so you're far from slowest.

Consider even some of the forced air induction options if you have cash or access to some tools.

Otherwise the above mentioned mods will definitely make that peppy ride better.

+1 for the final drive gear swap. Moves the torque band down a bit and city driving is alot more fun. If you're all highway though I wouldn't do it.

Don't know about ignition coils But I've built a custom intake piping for my car. Can't find headers but I'm sure they can be fabricated. As for the exhaust Madrake (I think that's the name) does a cat-back system. But most of us had the exhaust customed.

Not trying to Hijack the thread here but in regards to the PCM I've already have a SKIMM can I just pull the PCM and Plug and play or do I need the donor keys and SKIMM?
OK, swap question! I also have a 3.8 from a caravan. will it bolt up? both my intrepid and the caravan are 02.
don't think so as the caravan isn't part of the LH family... our engines mount straight on IIRC caravans mount sideways.

that'd be interesting to see. They put both a 3.5 and a 3.8 in the Pacifica, so if they didn't change them for that presumably they have the same bellhousing. Mounting might be an issue, I don't think the 3.8 was ever mounted longitudinally.
I like the way mopar designed the intakes of the 3.8. also The motor ran very strong while in the van. so I have to think to would do better in the Intrepid! I have to pull both motors any way so I guess I will take a look!!!

That's correct.
