Will be getting it friday. It's official.

I think the intrepid handles better, but the power from the GS is just too sweet.

On that note.. What do you guys think wins in a race (from a stop and rolling)

02 GS vs 99 Civic coupe with B16A motor. 170hp 116lb-ft torque.

?

My Intrepid would win, my LHS would come in 2nd, your Buick would come in 3rd, the B16 Civic would come in fourth, and my Civic would come in last ;)

Don't mark against the GS for handling. It's a Buick. Most Buick's are gear towards ride before handling.

As for the race. The GS supercharged is gauranteed bottom 15's or high 14's. Strong 1/8th milers.

Motor Trend Magazine tested the '01 Intrepid R/T and came up with a 7.7 seconds 0-60. They tested the Regal GS and got a peppy 6.6 seconds 0-60. Sounds like the Regal GS would win to me. You are right about the Civics coming in dead last, though.

Yea, can't mess with that 3.8 S/C. That'll push the intrepid's poop in quite far... :p

About the handling - for the GS version - they did handle for being pretty good - but rember that the Regal is ment for it's Road Ride, not it's Handling - but the GS a step up from a Limited or regular Regal.

Oh, guess beating a Bonneville SSEI S/C and a Riviera S/C is different than a Regal then?

No clue how the Regal is so much faster.......does it weigh a boatload less or something?

Those are also stock numbers. Rob's Trep is not quite stock.

Please dont take this the wrong way but the GS is really a comfort rather then sport tuned GTP and will eat the LH.

I still wouldnt trade my LH for it but thats a personal decision!

The GS definitely is faster, but I will say that my 01 Intrepid ES handles FAR better.

I was torn between buying a 300M vs a GS but the GS has more options, more luxuries, more power, easy engine to modify for cheap, but handling is worse.

I test drove both a 300M and a GS on the highway and I will say this.. the GS really surprised me. At highway speeds the engine isn't even working..it's at like 1500mRPM or lower, and when you punch it from 60mph it literally just goes, zero hesitation just pushes you back, all that torque is very very fun and is what basically sold me on the car over the handling issues vs the 300M which handles much better, although to me the GS response is more like a V8 than a V6, and the most important thing for me in buying was the power. I can see why some would rather the 300M or R/T trep though after having driven both.
