Well, I now have a chevy....

My dad has always been a Chevy guy (maybe I'm adopted?) and was getting rid of his 04 Impala LS with only 40 K on it. He really babys his cars so I had to buy it from him. He had it in Florida and we just drove it back up here yesterday, it drives really nicely. It has every option offered that year. Hes not a car guy so it has a couple minor issues I have to take care of.

I think we are going to have to replace my wifes 05 Stratus with this. Her car has 170K, few options and the hood is rusting on the leading edge. Still runs well though and likely gets better mileage.

At least it is the 3800... you don't want the 3.5 (I think that was it), and we all know the 3.1 and 3.4 motors...

Minor issues to work out...

It needs a hub, the ABS/traction sensor is shot and its part of the hub.
Steering wheel audio and cruise button paint has flaked off and now they have an annoying glow
Dad lived on the coast and the salt air destroyed the clearcoat on the wheels, I think they will be stripped and painted black
It has that dexicrap coolant in it, I need to flush that crap out ASAP
Backside 02 sensor needs replacing
Needs a detailing

From what I have read on the Impala forum you can source most of the parts from scrap yards or get a kit for $1500. I have my doubts about the scrap yard but hey its worth a shot. Trouble is I would kill the trans in short order
