*carefully looks around*

Well....Hello to all of you!

As I see you have created a nice home for Intrepid owners, so I just thought I'd drop by and introduce myself quickly...

The real name is Alex, I live in the cold city of Winterpeg in Canada and keep myself busy doing tech support for the local ISP. My origins are in Germany and Russia, but i decided to give Canada a try moved to the 'peg 3 years ago and well...can't really complain yet.

I myself turned 20 a few months ago, so far I have completed the first Semester of mechanical enginnering, but when my money ran out after that I had quickly to switch to college and finish my PC tech. I had all the knowledge from Germany, but the friendly suits here had trouble acknowledging any of that, so i had to sit at the college "for the paperwork"

All my life I've been dreaming about the Audi A4, but i enrolled in a student exchange program here in Manitoba 5 years ago and...then I saw the 2nd Gen Intrepid....

Uhmm..needless to say that I forgot about all other cars quickly. I simply fell in love with that car on first sight, and it's been my dreamcar ever since...

So a few months ago I got my ne job and shortly after that my old 83 Camry died painfully, so the question of a new car came up. I've been looking for an "affordable" 2nd gen, since I first saw it. And luckily for my a new dealership in the city opened it's doors and they had a beautifull trep for an even more beautifull price.

Despite all the bad reviews on the 2.7 and it's short life time and despite all the recommendations from my friends to get a rice-cart, I fullfilled my long-time wish of my dreamcar and got the trep:

A dark blueish-green 2000 2.7 Interpid (base) with 50K kms on it. And because I knew that the engine would live me eventually, I got extended warranty on all the vital parts.

The only thing that made the car less attractive were scratches around the door lock on the drivers door side, But i got the car nontheless..well..me and my bank...

Unfortunately for me the Trep got broken into on it's first night in my backyard, but as it were amateurs, they scratched the door and damaged the steering wheel column and left it broken there. Right when i thought I'd be out of luck, I went down to the insurance, and they told me that everything would be fixed at no charge to me. So they repaired the interior again and repainted the entire door, including all the damage that was there when I originally got the car ;)

Since then I got the windows tinted, and slapped some neons underneath the car and on my license plate (since those were the only thing I was able to afford, as I got a special price from a buddy of mine), replaced the carpets, and put some covers on the front seats. The car under my own ownership never saw more than 3.7K rpms...yet (it has a lot of power though)

At this point, at night It's one of the most beautifull Intrepids in the entire city, apart from the factory-equipped wheel covers.. (too bad the cop yesterday thought otherwise about my "lightshow" and ticketed me)

And somewhere along the way Google told me about this site and I was really delighted to see other (younger) Trep lovers. Love especially the How-to's and the Picture galary...you guys have some really great rides here. Keep up the modding!

*looks up*
damn..that's long...

*shakes head*
So much for a "brief introduction"...

Welcome to the site. "The car under my own ownership never saw more than 3.7K rpms...yet (it has a lot of power though)" lol Thats pretty funny. Just playing with ya newbie. I hope you find a lot of information for your Trep especially if you are thinking about modifying performance wise. Good luck with it.. Hope to see you around even though, I have a first gen.

Welcome to DI.net Alcapone

Good for you for following your dreams and not letting your
"friends" pursued you! I bet they're all jealous! As far as falling in love, well, it happens to the best of us. ;)

We just got our first 'Trep in Jan and to say we love it is an understatement! Stick close to us and do as much reading here as you can. There are TONS of cool mod ideas, some that are super cheap, that can totally change the look of your car. Some of us here are crazy about our 'Treps. Be very very careful. As you have already pointed out we seriously tweak on our cars. Watching us mod our babies will rub off on you (it looks like it might already be happening). It's becoming a problem for a few of us *cough cough* gazetowardthesky :hehe:

But hey, blame it on us as you're grinning from ear to ear watching all your friends drool. *giggle*

Yeah..I know, but considering the previous cars i've been driving on a regular basis, the trep definitely has some "Uff". I mean definitely more than the 4cyl camry, or my dad's 86 4cyl 1.7(or 1.9 not sure) benz diesel
