I thought I'd mess around with my headlights to see if I could do something with the hazing that has occured. This is what I ended up with:

Products used:
Old buffing compund I found in my garage
Foam buffing thingy from O'Riley
2000 grit sandpaper
Elbow grease
One 24-pack of Dr. Pepper
One day of nothing to do

I still need new ones but anything would help these.

Well, at least now we can see the silverstar turn signal bulb. A little better. I used buffing compound and more buffing compound on my wifes old set and they came out pretty clear. Might want to do the other grits of sand paper next time. I need to do the same to mine.

i had a spare set of fog lights i got from the junkyard and they were a little more foggy then that, i used a rag with some wd-40 and wiped then real good then wiped them with a clean rag and they came out clear, i dont know if you would want to do this with your head lights but it might help.

MEK at home depot =====(Methyl ethyl ketone is used as a solvent. Acute (short-term) inhalation exposure to methyl ethyl ketone in humans results in irritation to the eyes, nose, and throat.)===== has hundred uses around the garage, use it at your own risk: with the unit out of the car embed (not soak/leaking from the cloth) a piece of Cotton cloth or similar like a t shirt with no wrinkles or sewing marks, place it over the lens n in a not to slow motion drag it across the lens.. like when drying a car with a towel..don't use a piece of towel ! to ruff live marks..this product actually MELT the lens to a new shine, repeat if necessary, don't over do it, don't try to make "corrections" wait between attempts, can go right at the very first, just don't be picky (good to practice first with your in law's car ..)

I've found wetsanding with 800, then 1000, then 1500, then 2000 works very well t oget rif of all the scratches, discoloration, and embedded grime. After they dry they'll actually be pretty hazy from the 2000 grit but some meguiar's scratch x takes care of that. It does a real good job.

I did the same thing that 00r /t Mopar.muscle mentioned and then used some 3M plastic polish cleaner. It looks Great.

1000 grit--->1500 grit--->Rubbing Compound (removes 1500 grit scratches or finer)--->Polishing compound or product.

3" buffer pad on my D/A with ANY compound. I got a junkyard headlight for my kid after he had a minor hit (fender, battery, hood and headlight on his Stratus). The headlight was the WORST I have ever seen. I hit it with 1500 wet and then the buffer pad on the D/A. 30 seconds later it was better than his other side (yes I hit that too).

The MEK trick sounds very enticing. I think I'm going to try doing that, and follow it up with several layers of wetsanding and then for a finishing touch I haven't decided what I want to do yet. I could just use some polishing product, but I really want to find something that can seal the headlights to prevent hazing in the future.
