Im looking at replacing my bulbs. I want some Xenon gas bulbs. Im going to stick with stock wattage to not put any straign on the wires. But I do not know what the stock wattage is. I know bulb numbers, but no wattage. The fogs are 35. But I need to know what the regular ones and the high beams are. Thank you.

Wow... I sure hope my headlight bulbs aren't putting too much strain on the wires. I have the Xenon ones, 80w low and 100w high.

I haven't noticed any ill-effects yet, but for some strange reason, a couple weeks after I put them in, I lost the daytime running lights. The high-beams work just fine, just not at the low wattage for the DRL. I can't figure out why it wouldn't work.

I guess I don't really need the DRL anyway, because if I should have my lights on, I always turn them on anyway, unlike some drivers I see out there.

Good move on not wanting to go in with bulbs that draw more current. Even if they would be fine now (winter), I hesitate to think what might happen to the wires/housings as the outside temp increases over 80ºF by summer. I'm sure 00ChryslerIntrepid burned out his DRL module.

I know their not Xenon gas, but I put in
PIAA Platinum Super Whites for the lows and highs. The lows (9006) are 51W and the highs (9005) are 60W.

Oh wonderful... I burned out the DRL module. :(

I think in spring I will switch to standard wattage bulbs... like the ones Rick W put in. Hey Rick, where did you get those PIAA platinum super-whites and how much were they, if you don't mind my asking?

Also, does anyone have any idea how much a replacement DRL module is? If it's not too expensive, I'll have it replaced.

*sigh*... I guess I should have known that putting in 80/100w bulbs would cause something to break. :(

00ChryslerIntrepid - PIAA's are not cheap (at least here in Canada). I'm lucky that I drive a company car and was able to get the leasing company to pay. The bulbs were over CDN$65 a piece, or CDN$500 with tax for the set of six. Too bad I can't get them to spring for the K&N Aircharger!

Here's PIAA's 8YY number to check for a dealer near you - 1-888-888-7422. Good luck.

Thanks, Rick...

I ordered a pair of 9006's and 9005's (55 and 60w, respectively). They were $70 (US dollars) per pair. Not too bad..

As for the DRL module, I'm not so convinced I would wanna have it replaced. Some people don't like having DRL's... I guess I'm indifferent enough to let it be non-functional. The only thing that would trouble me is the thought of having something about the car that does not work. We'll see...

yes the PIAAs are very ecpensive, if I were to get those I would go all out and get the HID kit.

00ChryslerIntrepid,

The DRL module you need is Mopar #04602229AC. I upgraded my 1999 300m to it for around $95 US. The module fits all LH sedans 1998-2002.

Does the increased wattage really make that much difference?

Thanks for the part number and cost. I probably will not have it replaced, since it's really not necessary, nor is it something every Intrepid has. I really don't have a use for the DRL's because I always turn my lights on when I should anyway.

I don't know if the increased wattage makes any difference aside from ruining the DRL module, but when the PIAA lights come that I ordered, I'm putting them in right away. I may not throw out the ones I currently have in, just because it never hurts to have a spare set of working headlight bulbs around.

00ChryslerIntrepid,
have ya checked the 30 cent fuse they use for the drl circuit instead of the $90 drl module ??

reason im asking is cuz i blew my fuse a week before i put my car away, and the first thing i checked was the 10 amp mini fuse in the side access panel of the car when you open the drivers door.
thats where id start the process of elimination ...
