If you were able to force the trans controller to erase it's adaptive program, it will feel a bit more ballzy until it re-learns what to do. There's a lotta stuff going on in that trans and the controller has to keep up with all of it, realisticly wiping out the adaptive is not recommended unless a repair has been made to the trans. It'll take about 50-100 miles tops to re-form the new program.

well... I have a 2nd gen, but same tranny, just updated a bit. I just got my tranny rebuilt and it shifts hard sometimes, sloppy sometimes, and of course, the bump shift while coming to a stop. I was told it can take at least 20 key starts before the controller finally figures everything out. I'm wondering if this sequence that si did will help? or is it not a good idea for me to do it?

i erased mine and no adverse effects. the shifts under normal acceleration from a stop and from about 40 and passing are much more commanding, precise, and authoratative. it's worth losing your radio presets and clock for this 15-minute job.

the computer learns pretty fast, if you drive like its a race car for about 5 mins, it learns to adjust to your driving style, but drive normal for another 5 mins and its cool. It takes everything in and figures and average of your driving style.

Technically, if you disconnect the battery for a few minutes the trans controller will "forget" the adaptive program it's made.
Sucks though, all other pre-sets are lost. Engine controller will 'remember' what it was doing though.
