I'm finally getting around to introducing myself. northernrider here. The Intrepid in my yard has been in the family since my father bought it new in 2001. It was only the second new car he ever owned.

The first one was a Ford LTD from the early-mid 70's. I don't remember much about that car except that we tried to go on a family vacation but the car broke down before we reached our destination. So our vacation was spent in a hotel waiting for the car to be repaired. By the time the car was repaired the vacation money was gone. The Ford was a lemon and nickled & dimed him right until he sold it about 2 years after buying it. Back then there either wasn't a warranty or it was very short. It was the last Ford he ever owned.

Enough about that and back to the Intrepid. My father bought it new in 2001 and drove it trouble free until he passed in 2004. My mother drove it right up to 2016 when she gave it to my nephew. He drove it for 6 months but after getting into an accident couldn't afford insurance. It has sat in my yard for the last year. Well this year either my nephew puts it back on the road or I'll take it over and put it on the road myself. There is a sentimental attachment to it for me and I hate seeing it just sit there. The car is original with exception to the brakes, tires, ignition switch, muffler and paint. Oh and the factory head unit is gone as well.

I know that the struts are finished and there is likely a lot of worn out parts that I'll need to change and this forum will be valuable in learning which manufactures are making quality parts that will perform and last and which ones are making their parts out of peanut butter. I had issues with Moog ball joints on my 1ton Dodge. What good is a lifetime warranty if I'm changing parts every 9 months. The warranty doesn't cover my time or the alignment afterwords. Thankfully I found out about CumminsForum.com and about XRF joints that were about the best for these trucks at the time.

Wow, I rambled on more than I meant to when all I had to say was, "I'm looking forward to being part of this forum."
