Hello to all out there, have been keeping an eye on the site for a while, and now that I have joined the ranks as an Intrepid owner, I figured it was time to go all the way and join up. RIP 99 Neon. :(

Anyway..I have an ES loaded with everything but the top line stereo and leather, way to cold here for that. I may have an oppertunity to have the stereo head unit swapped out for the cassette/4disc unit for about the same as the factory build uplift. I already have the 9 speaker setup. The dealership has a destroyed 02 ES, and I may have talked them into doing the swap.

My big question is in order to get the steering wheel audio controls, do I need a new steering wheel? I am getting conflicting info, depending upon whom I talk to. I would think that the pods should just attach to the existing wheel, especially since a new wheel is $545.00. Anyone gone thru this before?

Thanks in advance..

Welcome to the site.

There is a recent thread regarding this topic. Maybe one of the other Trep owners remember where it is. Apparently it is not as simple as you would think and I believe that a number of others thinking about doing the same, backed off.
Hopefully someone responds to my comment and could lead you in the right direction.
