Yeah, yeah I know "How could you???...etc" all I'm gonna say is that I was doing bout 10km/h and the car just slid on the ice like 15 feet, it was really slippery. Anyway I got lucky and only damaged the drivers side mirror. It's power and still works but I shattered the glass and broke a mount inside the mirror assembly, so now the whole assembly inside the plastic shroud kinda jiggles around a bit when the door is closed or you play with it. I can't believe that I didn't break the plastic shroud, or the whole mirror didn't come off of the car. Way to go Chrysler guys!!!

Anyway is the whole thing held on by one bolt or what???... or do you think it's possible to remount the assembly inside the shroud somehow???

thanx guys

On most cars, though I'm not sure for the Intrepid. You have to take off the triangular plastic cover on the interior door panel behind where the mirror is. There's usually 2 or 3 bolts that hold it in from there.

I believe you are correct.

If you can afford it -this would be a perfect opportunity to go for the KMUTH signal mirror upgrade available for the 300M to see if it will work with ours

The mirror housing is held on by two nuts and one screw. You must take the door panel off to change the mirror as the electrical connection is down inside the door. Also you can add the signal mirrors form the 300M special but you will have to run wires as the Intrepid does not have the signal wire on the door harness like the 300M.
Avenger, how could you

That's great news!! I am willing to do that!! I just hope the prices are reasonable from the dealer.....that will be the deciding factor....

Dealers always jack up the price, OEM stuff normally costs lotts of cash. Im scared to go ask how much 300M rims would cost.

Otto, do you know the mount that I broke inside the mirror assembly??? Do you think it would be possible to glue it back together or something???

Oh, the prices are:

$481.95 for a new mirror unit
$125 for a used mirror unit from a junker
$25 for just the mirror

I might go with just the mirror (but the unit kinda jiggles and I don't particularly like that)

wow that is expensive for a new unit, mabe you should look into aftermarket assemblies with signals in them.

Don't laugh. When I was living in my old apartment... and before the R/T (had my Civic)... I had both of my side mirrors stolen. They quoted me $400 to replace them both. But daym $480 each... ouch.

I would be interested in replacing my side mirrors with the 300M special ones. But daym how much?

lets also remember hes talking Canadian money. But still its tones of money. way over priced, imagine the cost of the car if all the parts cost as much as it does to replace. ****in ****, 1,000,000,000,000,000. for an Intrepid.

Only $269 on this site for Signal and heated.

Signal Mirrors Website

Can get $40 off that if you want to join the 300m group here
BTW, requested their site to link to this one since cars are like sisters in design.

As for 300m rims, found a set
here for only $1095. Or one on Ebay motors for $775 here

Drivers side Dimming rearview mirror

The 300m and LHS got dimming rear view mirrors on the drivers side and was wondering if i could install them on my Intrepid just by plugging them in or would i have to run a wire, also the manual for my 1998 Intrepid Es says nothing about heated outside mirrors and i was wondering if they are actually heated?

While at the dealership havin the oil changed, the service tech had scraped the mirror on a safety rail, big huge yellow stripe down the side of my side view mirror. I showed the tech and they agreed to replace the mirror instead of buffing it out. They said with it being a plastic housing, it would never look that good. I'm glad I didn't have to pay for it. That's one expensive mirror:biggrin:
