The can says use about a 1/3 pint into the engine... but how often can I do this? The car has a 100k+ miles on it, so with only two treatments ever on it, how clean is everything? Can I do this treatment once a week for a little while until the smoke out the tail initially isn't that thick? Like I said, how much is too much?

I wouldn't do it more than once an oil change, you don't want to knock anything lose especially with 100k on her.

i would not do it more than once about every 25k, if it didn't get anything out this time, doing it next oil change isn't going to. there is such a thing as to much of a good thing.

Does your car smoke all the time? Or are you not running your car for about 30 minutes after the use of seafoam to blow it all out? If after you have done the treatment, blown all the thick stuff out, and you are still getting smoke, chances are you might be burning oil. Seafoam will not clear that up. My wifes 2000 was burning oil, I tried seafoam, and that did nothing for it. We spend close to $600 to replace all the seals on the engine to eliminate that issue, but it still burns oil and smokes. I would explore that. If that is not the issue, besides using it on the engine, put a whole bottle into your gas tank and let it clean out the fuel system. It says you can add it in with your oil...but I have yet to hear of a member here try it, and I for one am NOT recommending it. I like to play it safe and have everybody do so as well by sticking with the vacumme lines and the fuel tank.

I run it till it stops smoking, and it doesn't smoke in normal running, but I've used this twice now since I've had the car (once yesterday). I wonder how clean the engine is as a result, what with how many miles are on it now... So as the can says, use more, can I do repeated treatments in short order, or once an oil change for a few times, or is it really thouroughly cleaning everything?

Also, I'm using about half a can through a vacuum line and the other half in the tank.

^^^So you have used it in your oil? I assume you just poured it straight in? Are you using regular oil or synthetic? This is the kind of info I could add to the **SEAFOAM** thread (-;

I can understand dyno oil, but for synthetic I would not see a reason due to the added ingredients used for cleaning anyways. Does it thin out your oil, give it a sludgy/foamy look to it? Throw me/us a bone.

pp6000v2...I will say this. Use it at your own discretion. If you feel you need more, go in moderation. I have done a back to back in my car once for shits and giggles and didn't see any MAJOR change. Mine has less than 65k on it (2001) and I did a back to back on my wifes with about 103K on it at the time (2000) and still no MAJOR change. In fact in both cars, the second time had very minimal smoke, well except my wifes...but about 80% I would say was burning oil. I would stick with the half bottle for the engine and a full bottle for the gas tank and right at the 3000 mile mark for oil changes. I would also say, after you let the car run on its own for a bit, get it out in areas where you can give it some throttle. I have found that helps with getting alot of extra crud out of there.

At the risk of repeating myself (other Seafoam discussions), don't be an idiot and put this stuff in your crankcase, regardless of what it says on the label. It is more than half naptha and isopropyl alcohol, neither of which is a lubricant.

If you're driving 400 miles with it in the crankcase, isn't it mixed in with the oil, and therefore in a place where one would expect to find a lubricant? At least you aren't throwing in a whole can.

well, i dont over due it. havent had a problem yet. and i noticed since the first time that it does perform alot better now that alot of **** is cleaned out and my oil doesnt look black like night when i do a change now. after 3,000 miles on reg. penzoil dino. its still a medium brown , not jet black like it used to be. so i think theres a slight benifit to it.... of course if your running systhetic then i doubt you would even need to do it since it has properties of **** to clean.

There again...should be a descision left up to the owner to make as to whether or not they wish to use it in there crankcase. Some might find it to be a benifit where others (such as myself) would rather stay clear of it in the oil. I use Mobil 1 so I don't see a need or desire to actually try it. What EspizTrep is doing is no different than a man I talked to at Seafoam says to do. The Rep also said that is what he does. About a 1/4 of a can, and change it about 3-500 miles later if not sooner. I look at the regual Seafoam about the way I look at the Seafoam tranny stuff they sell. It says on the can if I remember right, to add a certain amount after operating temp has been reached, then do a flush/fill and filter change. Certainly no different in my opinion.

1994 dodge intrepid.. 3.3 191,125 miles.. where do i put seafoam for my car.. is it safe for the miles i have on my car even if the engine runs smooth and does not burn oil..

I've got 211000 on my 300 and ran 2 pints through and still I've got some slight smoke. I just bought this car. I think one pint per oil change would be a good rule to go by.

even better than seafoam is amsoil power foam. When I was in the army, we always used atf in the crankcase to clean things up

The only way to get too much in is to pour it in too fast, pouring too fast will stall the engine.

I prefer the aerosol can version of Seafoam for cleaning the throttle body and combustion chambers, it's MUCH easier to put in. Just let the idle air control valve opening (there is a passage in the TB for idle) take it in while the engine is hot. Use up the entire can, it works great.

After the engine ats the contents of the can, shut it off, put the intake tube back on and let it sit for an hour to let the hot cleaner soak in. Then start it up and admire the smokescreen once more. Drive for 10 minutes to expel the cleaner.
