So, Before I ask this question, Let Me say, I HAVE THE FSM. Before everybody goes on and tell Me about Reading and Following the FSM and how it tells You how to Disassemble and Assemble everything on the Car/Engine..

Ok, with that said and Out of the way. I've come to the cross roads where I decided that whats best for Me and My Project is to take the Engine out (In My case, the Block out - as You'll see in the Photos) and really do a good overhaul after reading so many write ups on here about other peoples stories and how just slapping on Rod Bearings and/or Con Rods are just a "BandAide" and totally a bad Idea and a bad rebuilt, w/o taking the crank out to check & make sure its still perfectly round and within specs. that most people encounter after changing some parts, they'd still hear the knock and some others the same or worse problems arose some months/weeks later... And as (Was it) Dan Or one of the Good Guys that are Very Knowledgeable about these engines call it "Looking for trouble".

But anyway, let Me get to My purpose, I know it might sound stupid, But I Need help taking the Block out. Reading the FSM (For Me) is a Little confusing Or should I say hard to follow/understand Very Well, I've been reading it since the past 3 week pretty Much everyday, But I don't seem to understand it quite well. When I got to the part where You're supposed to use the Special tool 8342 Engine Lifting Fixture (Since everything on the engine requires a special tool - SMH)..... Anyway, in that section the Figure/Photo is really not clear enough to Me as to where to Hook up the Engine Fixture, It seems to Me like its on the end of the Crank where the Sprocket goes (For the Front), then I thought to Myself, that can't be, It doesn't sound like a good idea to Me. Then (For the Rear) the area its supposed to hook up to is not clear either - (To Me at least)

I've searched on the forums as well and couldn't find anything. So what I really would like to know is - Is there a write up on here (besides whats on the FSM) that shows a better thorough/detailed directions on pulling the engine?? And if Possible Disassembling & Assembling IN A LAY MANS TERMS b'cos the FSM can get "Political" sometimes with the words and directions/directives they Use. (The Disassemble/Assemble Part Not Really A Priority as I have already torn everything apart, But It won't hurt to still have another that opinion I can merge with Mine to make sure I do it right & Once). Or if any of You good guys can tell Me or better show Me some good pics on where to attach the hooks to pull it, I'd really appreciate it greatly.

I Just need to know where to attach My hooks when puling the Block.

And Really any other help You guys think/feel I should employ while doing this job.

Thanks for all/any help.

fook hooks. just use a chain with big enough links to pass a head bolt through.
one front, biased to one side(l,r) and one back in about the same but opposite side in the rear.
center chain on engine hoist hook.
just balance the weight as best you can between back/front, and l/r. thats how to choose your places.
or put everything back in place and look for the factory lifting brackets.
