So on our car trip to north carolina this weekend, we were running too much power through the cigarette lighters and blew the fuses. Well the one outlet was just a normal fuse, but the other one is basically a circuit breaker hidden in the car somewhere. The owners manual says the dealer has to reset them, but I'm guessing that they are just behind a dash panel somewhere. Do any of you guys have any idea where I might find the resettable fuses or if its something that needs the dealer scan tools to reset. I really don't want to go pay 100 bucks to those assclowns to reset a ****ing fuse. I hate dealerships so much.

By the way, its an 02 limited edition town and country.

I'm assuming you blew the acc fuse and the battery fuse?

Check the fuses under your hood in the van. I think wen I blew an "internal" fuse on my dads 04, they said they had to reset it...and it just turned out to be a simple one under the hood.

I already pulled every single underhood fuse,

All the '99 manual shows is PTC 7 (which supplies switched power to the relay) and fuse 8 - both of which are in the PDC up front. Guess they changed/added something after that ...

*****, well I'm going to go in and ask the mechs at the service dept about it since I'll be picking up a new door lock motor anyways.

damn...captain...i did the same thing on the way to carlisle with my laptop...still havent figured it out after pulling EVERY fuse that I can see.

What car was it?


Thats why with my inverter and cig lighter setup, I'll be running totally new wires and having it safe to run at least 40 amps. We easily top out over 20 in our van setup and I know I could way overdo that for a car trip in my car if I wanted to. After all this I'm going to need to get a higher output alt since I'll be pulling up to 100 amps of exrta accessories by the end of the year.

It was in the intrepid, i was just running my laptop off my small (225 watt) inverter.

We don't have any dumbass resetting fuses like that, just two fuse panels.

Yeah in the owners manual for the van, it calls them resettable fuses or something like that and then says they work exactly like a circuit breaker. How retarded, new fuses cost practically nothing.

They've got to cost more than a fuse so there must be a reason. Maybe some type of delay on the breaker to avoid blowing on a demand spike? It's the only reason I could think of for having one instead of a fuse ...

Its so stupid though, they have one pair of cig lighters on one fuse, and then this other set of cig lighters on the the circuit breaker ****. Both are fifteen amps, the only difference is one is ignition on and one is constant. (Constant is the retarded one).

Oh and I found something else wierd, the van has the same fuse that can be moved over half a slot to switch our cig lighter from ignition to battery (even says ign - bat on it), but when you switch it nothing changes. The outlets normally on ignition stay that way and the same goes for battery. What the ****?

I know you can check fuses with a ohm meter. If the fuse is good the meter will give no or small resistance so you should have full meter reading. If you have a bad fuse you will have infinite resistence or no movement of dial. I think circuit breakers can also be tested this way and they are a lot harder to tell if blown by just looking.

Or you can just look at the fuse and see if it is fried, kinda why they make em transparent.

The problem isn't testing fuses or circuit breakers, its finding the ****ing circuit breakers. It doens't tell you how to get to them so that you have to take it to the dealer and pay them to reset them.
