I found out i have this play (I don't know the name of that part) watch the video and see what I mean. I have a feeling it's not normal, but I want to make sure its not something I need to be worried about. I mean it's small play. Can someone tell Me, and possibly what I need to do if any?
Thanks.

I dont know why My Link wont work.

That's side play between the connecting rod and the crankshaft journals.

The specification on that is 0.13-0.38mm (0.0052-0.015") with a max. allowed of 0.4318mm (0.017"). For comparison, I just measured the thickness of 3 pcs. of regular printer paper stacked together, and it's 0.33mm (0.013"). I'd say you're within spec.

Play in that direction is not critical. It's the play in the radial (diameter) direction that matters. The allowance for that is a lot less than the side-to-side play: 0.024-0.064mm (0.001-0.0026") - about 1/5 of the side-to-side.

So what am I supposed to be measuring? The lil concave/convex shiny thingy that goes between the Connecting Rod and the bottom part?
Honestly I don't understand most of what you wrote, esp. All those tiny numbers or what measurements they were for..... :p (Let Me say this is My 1st major car job, that means I'm a rookie, so I'll often not comprehend the names of parts and most of what's been said "Right Away" - So please, bear with Me)
But thanks for clearing My doubts. So, from what you're saying I don't/didn't need to worry about those little plays ehh?

However, I've already took those bottom parts off to clean'em and to see if I could find anything abnormal, but everything looks ok, I just dont know why that play is there (I'm Just hoping that when I put them back on the plays go away) so there's no fix to it? (Sorry I Might sound a lil too ambitious, but, I just wanna make sure that when I put the car back together everything goes on right and run the way it should)

And lastly while I have them off, is this the Part where I get to measure something? If so what is/are they? Also those bolts do they need to be torqued to any spec(s)?

Thanks for all the Help! :)

Maybe take the engine to a shop that's qualified to check these things?

Sounds like you're way over your head and capabilities on this if you don't understand the clearance measurements and how you check them.

No offense.

I agree with Peva. Play in that direction (front to back) is something that you must have. As Peva said, there is a tolerance as to how much play there is in that direction but it appears to be ok. If you did not have any clearance, then the sides of the connecting rods would wear against the crankshaft and cause significant damage.

What Peva is describing when he says "radial play" as being more critical, is the amount of space between the rod bearing and the crankshaft surface that it rides on (up and down/drivers side to passenger side movement). This amount of clearance is what makes the difference between whether your engine runs quiet or whether you hear a rod knock.

What alot of people tend to forget bearings should not rub against each other directly when running under normal conditions. Oil pressure (and oil Duh) should provide a film of oil separating the two.
