It looks like (from car-stats.com) that he will run a 15.4-15.6. I don't think you have a chance unless you get a great launch and he has some wheel spin. A second or more advantage to the SS.

Those are sweat cars. I'd love to have one of those rides. :)

I am pretty sure I would smoke you all the wau to the end. You might be able to stay pretty close to me but I think I got the advantage with the 260 stock HP and the 330 ft./lbs. of torque to help me get off the line.

Caprice based Impala SS's are gorgeous. What GM did was turn a sow's ear (Caprice)into silk.

Amazing what they did with a few buckets of black paint, a dogleg rear quarter window, modified grill, and a tiny trunk spoiler. The Impala SS turns an otherwise ugly Shamoo-mobile into a mean looking vehicle.

The Caprice LT1 is a horrific looking beast that should be dragged through the streets until nothing is left of it but it's sweet torquey engine. Good sleeper, ugly car. But then again, aren't those the best sleepers? It will most likely take any stock LH car, I will unfortunately agree on that point.

The love I have for my Caprice is like a mothers love, you only think it looks cool if its your own and you smoked Rustangs with it. It will be getting a bucket of black paint, a dogleg rear window, already got the grill, and a tiny spoiler. You cant disagree with rear wheel drive 275/60 sized tires. :)
Intrepidatious sure does know his cars, and he knows a good one when he sees it also. Pimped3point3, I do need all that torque to get me off the line, but it THROWS me off the line like a rocket. They are not ugly, they just havn't grown thier SS legs yet. :D

To be honest, i almost bought a '96 Impala SS before I bought my '97 Intrepid. but it came down to price.

I really like those cars, and think they look badass! I saw one last week at a local car show some dude had done up with Ram Air and all, looked sweet.

They have a pretty hard push off the line, but a lot more when you getting moving like you guys said. The 330ft. lb. of torque is up there. That much torque can throw a lot of weight off the line.
