I'm a volunteer EMT and I've got a siren speaker made especially for my 1996 Intrepid, it mounts in the front air dam. The problem I have is that I can't find a place in the firewall to run wiring from the siren driver to the speaker and the battery. Does anyone know where there's a grommet that you can slip wires around or another place in the car to run them into the engine compartment? Its come to the point that I'm going to have to drill another hole in my floor and seal it with silicone after running the wires through..

you want to drill a hole and then seal it. running the wires, even though they are going to be thin, is not a good idea in this car. i've heard of problems with cramming wires thru the existing grommets in the firewall. if you search the forums you might find a couple good ideas for locations to drill.

you are correct, 96 is a first gen. 1st gen is 93-97 and and 2nd gen is 98-present.

I used the existing one in the firewall already. It is way up under the dash in about the position the brake is (center). What you need is a flash light to see up in there. The problem with this grommet is that it is hard to see where it comes out in the engine bay. It comes out on the driver's side under the brake booster. Use a coat hanger bent into a straight line, attach the wire to it and run it up. It works best with two people. This is how I installed my remote keyless entry wire directly to the battery. You'll be cursing an aweful lot but eventually it'll work. ;)
