I was just wondering if anyone knew what the purpose of the little box that sits behind the box w/ the air filter in it. I've taken off the hose that goes to the filter box and looked into the other one and its empty? Anyone got any ideas?

and another question - would it help at all to cut a/some holes in the bottom of the filter box to get more air to the engine? or is that a bad idea? any help is appreciated.

That is the resonator box, does NOTHING except keep the intake sounds quiet. Some of us have bored big old holes in the bottom part of our intakes. On my 2001 R/T there is the hole in the front that is used to draw cooler air in from the front, so that is where I bored my holes.
