I had to share this story with you guys, my best friend owns a stereo shop here in San Diego. He just built a custom enclosure for a customer for JL Audio W7 like the one in the picture below.
He built a box to JL Audio's specs using 3/4 inch MDF, the sides were glued and nailed, and then the box was sealed. They installed it with a 1000 watt JL Audio amp. He said it was hitting hard for about 2 or 3 minutes and then a big thud. They opened the trunk, the woofer had blown the box apart, both sides were blown out, ripped the nails right out. Daaaaaaammmmmm. He builds some serious systems in his shop, and could not believe it and called me.
