Howdy Fellers, i just figured i'd put up some pictures of my engine rebuild and cleaning up and repainting the engine bay.

Thats all for now till i get the engine set in there hopefully this weekend..

Looks good

im thinking of doing a rebuild this summer

did you clean all the parts your self or did you take some of the parts to a machine shop?

i did it all my self, went threw about 2 gallons of simple green, two wire brushes and one small wire brush, along with about 10 terry cloths....

Looks great... but why'd you have the upper intake on backwards?

I like the "aluminum" oil pan, and the black upper intake..

I see you followed 'my' suggestion (I suggested it on here to someone, I don't know if you read my posts or not) and left the exhaust manifolds on the pipes. HOw hard was it to squeeze the motor past the manifolds, especially removing it by hand?

so you did everything yourself? man, that would take a long time. i was thinking of doing this kinda of thing myself...interested in giving a guy some help

Good, and i worked on the engine from about 10am till about 12 or 1am for about 2 weeks strait..

Looks great... but why'd you have the upper intake on backwards?
I had the intake plenium on backwords cause i plan on mounting it taht way for a "ram air" induction, it might not help much if at all but i haven't seen it done yet.

I didn't read your post but i usually leave the manifolds connected to the pipes on all my rebuilds, just makes it easier. As far as doing it by hand, it wasn't hard at all to squeeze the motor out from between the manifolds, just getting it off the engine mounts was the hard part, then getting my arms rapped around it and picking up and setting it out of the car was a hole nother story..

Yeah, i did it all my self, picked it up out of the car carried the engine to my shed(with out the heads on it, I'm not that tough yet ;) ) Tore it apart, cleaned it, and reassembled it. I didn't send anything off to a machine shop, only thing that might get sent off is the radiator to get flushed that's it. I took the block to the local car wash and washed it really good spend 10 minutes washing it and getting it all cleaned out.

And if any of you need any help or advice I'd be more than happy to help you where i can!

As for leaving the manifolds...

On the 3.3, the manifolds overlap the edges of the heads by a little bit. So, I didn't know how hard it was to shove the manifoldes to the sides at the same time, hard enough, to lift the motor out. I'll be changing my 3.3 sometime soon, so curious for that reason.

Well it might help the fact that i have no exhaust what so ever on my car. I was running about a foot of piping past the pre-cat's.

OH!!! Hehehehe I still have the complete factory stainless exhaust from September 1993 hung under mine... hehehehehehe

that does explain why it was NO trouble for you at all... I'll have a tad more trouble, but I'll also be using a cherry picker.
