more noiceable engine sound and actually a quicker pickup from the start...

local track tonight has "tuning and testing" for 10 bucks. only 1 problem, it's an 1/8 mile. dunno if I want to go do that or hold out and search for a local 1/4 track.

total with tax AND recharging kit was $56 bucks

ok, forgive my ignorance here- but what type of filter is this? Is this the one that goes in the airbox or does it replace the airbox and is a cone? Does anyone have any pictures?
Thanks

The drop-in one goes in the factory airbox. You can buy a cone one, there isnt a specific one for each car. You have to find one with the right size whole to fit tubing from the air intake hose to the filter.

So school me, would I take out the air filter box, and replace it with a cone filter, now does this cone filter attach to the hose that ran to the air filter box?

the cone filter just hooks up to the hose where the box hooked up. just loosen the clame that holds the box in, rip out the box and tighten the cone on the end of the hose. My personal opinion, I would keep the box and just drill some more holes into it, the box draws cooler air then a cone.

Cone filter - Brad knows, and so does BLKBUTE, that a cone filter on the end of the intake hose will draw hot engine air into the filter. Most of us use the K&N drop-in filter and some of us have "modified" our stock airbox to allow (hopefully) more air to get in. There is also the water issue ... rain shouldn't get into the modified stock airbox, will it get into a cone filter under the hood......?

when I wash my car, sometimes I pop the hood and I do notice water sitting on the airbox. So it is likely that water can get into the cone. Plus Ive heard if you strap a cone on there it tends to come loose.

I personaly feel that the cone is a waist, unless you want to add the looks under your hood. Even then I do not think it looks nice with the stock hose, you would have to redue the whole intake to make it look nice.

Ok, now I know- thanks. I already have the drop in one- first thing I did when I got the car. I just thought this was something different.

a K+N is not like a paper filter, you don't throw it away. The filter comes with a million mile warranty, once in a while you pull the filter out, bang the dirt off it, wash it with their cleaner, dry and reoil. The recharge kit is the cleaner and oil.

The K+N box recommends cleaning every 50,000-100,000 miles but I usually do it more often than that.

Thanks for the URL. I got my last one at AutoZone and got ripped off!! I paid like $60+.

Just ordered it :)
