I have thought for a long time that this board should have a Kills Section, similar to what you see on almost every other automotive board. (I'm even willing to be moderator! *hint hint*)
I'll get things started by posting my only two kills (so far) with the LHS.
1. LHSer vs Ford Ranger 4x4 4.0L
This was not too long after the wife and I bought the car. It had been rainy, and some nice weather came along, so I decided it was time to cruise. I came up to a stop light beside a pretty nice Ranger (I was born and raised Ford) with dual exhaust, it looked and sounded great. I was checking it out when the owner spotted me. He must have thought I wanted trouble cause he starts gunning it and lurching. I figure what the hell and decide to give it a go. I shut off traction control, lever down in to first and brake torque to about 1500rpm. The light turns green, and we're off!
The LHS bogs at first, letting the Ranger have the lead, but when it sweeps past 2500rpm, the surge comes on and the Ranger is at my back doors. Shift to 3rd and I pull ahead more, Ranger to the bumper and falling off. Finally in D and the Ranger is 2 lengths behind and lagging, although I can hear those pipes screaming. I let off at 60 (in a 30 zone, eek!) and the Ranger does the ol' Ricer fly by. I don't think he was happy.
Oh well.
2. LHSer vs Olds Alero
Travelling I-94 west of St Cloud heading back to the Twin Cities after an outing in Alexandria. We are cruising along at 75-80, a nice clip when all of a sudden this young girl (17 at the most) starts tailgating me in the nice shiny Alero GLS (V6) that daddy must have bought her. Anyway, she goes to pass, and I figure I'll punch it. She was tailing me and I don't care for that.
We are neck and neck when I punch it, and when I do, she does as well. As nice as those Alero's look, the sure lack something in the midrange performance area. The LHS pulled on her and didn't let her catch up until I let off at 105, at which time I was about 4-5 lengths ahead and gaining. She pulled in behind me and kept her distance the rest of the way back to the 'Cities. (After giving me the finger when I looked in my mirror, of course.)
So any kill stories from the rest off you?
PS I read in a back issuse of "Motor Trend" that an LHS will do the 30-60mph romp in little under 3 seconds!
Thats performance car times. That sure says something about these cars. I'm sure that is the same on other LH cars with the 3.5L setup.
