Ok i bought a genuine L intake made by Steve Lister From one of our members, it was offered at one hell of a price so i jumped on it. I installed the intake last night and it was a peice of cake. Total install time for me was about 35 minutes from start to stop. I spent more time taking off the strut brace and windsheild wiper cowl than i did putting on the intake. Once it was all buttoned up i took it for a spin around the block, WOW what a difference. The intake really growls when you hit higher revs and you can really notice a substantial increase in power. Im not sure what the total gain in H.P. might be but i would dare to say it must be close to 10 to 15 from the difference in the way the car felt to me. The great thing about this simple bolt on is that im not only going to gain Horse Power but im also going to gain gas mileage and with the gas prices being what they are every little bit is going to help. The moral of the story to all you members who are thinking of buying one of these intakes is do it, you definitly won't be disapointed. You might not be able to find the exact intake that i have but i know that joekd is also making a kit (which comes with a heat sheild and mine didnt) for 200 bucks that includes everything from the kn cone filter to the dress up decals to put on it.

...and remember, for those who don't wrench, you don't really need to take off the strut brace and cowl. Unless you have really big hands, like boxing gloves, you'll be able to do the job just fine.

I don't think you'll see much gas savings, however, 'cause with the new sound and vigor of your engine you'll be "getting on it" more often.

Congrats on the install. We'll get some pix of it tomorrow at the meet.

yea i really doubt that im going to see much in the department of gas saving since i cant seem to keep my foot off the pedal as i love the sound of that intake heheh. let me know what kind of measuments you need to make a heat sheild joe. i also just ran the red tubes on the intake as is (i was to excited to paint it then let it dry) i wanted to get it on so i could see how it worked out.

That is NOT a J or L intake, anyone caught with one of those posted above will be endlessly harassed.
And why is that? They work, and very well at that. Just because it's not made by Joe........sigh. No hope for the little guy.

Is there proof of them working?
I don't have any dyno sheets if that's what you're asking. It could probably be improved yes but it flows more air more smoothly and unrestricted than stock. You can tell there is a increase in power, but I suppose if I don't have dyno sheets no one is impressed.

If you look at my two threads of (Would you buy...), you will see why your intake isn't selling. For your sake, I hope you don't have a hundred of these sitting in the garage waiting to be installed.

Again, and people wonder why no aftermarket company really takes a look at these cars. If you didn't notice I lowered the price to $90. Which to me sounds pretty reasonable. And HELL NO I don't have 100 of these laying around, hell I don't even have another one that's all made up. My plan was that if I got and order when I got the money I'd go out and buy the stuff and cut everything to size and mail it off.

$90 dollars may not be bad, I guess what the people want is what the other cars that have aftermarkets for them get. Proof that these intakes work, and well, as you and I both see, there isn't any. Sure, it may not be worth it to you to have before and after results by using a dyno, but, until someone does it, there will be little if any aftermarket.

im not sure that anyone has before and after numbers on any home made intake but it didnt stop me from buying my lister. I really do think that there is a substantial difference in power. if care bear wants to make and sell 3.3 intake good for him, there hasnt been alot of people making those for the 3.3 and if they dont work and turn out to be trash so be it.

would you have more preformance gains if you set up and exhaust along with the intake to better deal with the added air moving through the system?
