Looking for info on large bore T/B. What is the performance gains?
Is it worth the cost? And, if going to larger throttle body, do you have to go with larger intake duct?
What is the most effective way to increase air induction on our cars short of functional air scoop?

Im with you on that. Would you happen to know what size (in millimeters) throttle bodies come standard on Intrepid w/ 3.5L ? And how large should I go?
Or is this something that will cause a host of problems later and shouldnt be messed with?

Stock size is 68MM, biggest people have gone (safely) and can find throttle body plates for is 70mm. Had one on my car for a bit, IMO, wasnt worth it. Didnt do too much for what it cost.

Hey Dan,

Ive got some crazy ideas going around my head! I would love to start on a fully functional, fully ducted, vacuum actuated hood scoop(s) Finding a scoop or scoops that actually look good has proven to be a chore.
I would even go as far as cutting out the hood scoop of a 72 Challenger, weld it onto my hood, make the cut outs, and make it functional all the way, including ducting the ram air into the bottom of my air box, and being able to close it in the rain. Unfortunately, a Challenger hood is mostly flat and does not have the forward curve...something along those lines would be awesome.

Chances of me actually doing it are pretty slim. I think I would buy an aftermarket hood for a project like this...encase things go wrong, I can always put my original hood back on! Either way, I would really like to do something like this, attain and make functional with vacuum actuator or 12 volt. w/ vacuum switch(s)

Do you know anyone who has done something like this or similar with a LH model?

I am a big fan of the TB, but I also have done a lot of other intake work to go along with it, so Joe's point stands.

There are actually ways with advanced pressure sensors and such to determine by a ratio if the TB is a choke point. I know the LX guys can do this with their electronics setup.

There is a member that has said he has a 72mm throttle body.
I used a company out of Florida called Maxbore. Supposedly they will bore your TB as large as structurally possible and make/install a new throttle plate to match. To be honest, I think they just straight bored my TB to the diameter of the stock plate or slightly larger. I didn't measure but I don't think it's even 69mm. It was only $100 or $125 though plus shipping to them.

A larger throttle body bore really only does anything at wide open throttle. You can make the 68mm act like the 70mm just by opening the throttle more. Only at WOT does the extra diameter let that extra air pass through.
