i can tell ya that any USRobotics modem thats not a win modem will work :) good ole trusty USR!

Hmm..if I could find such an app, I would use it.

Crappy old Rockwell modem. :(

USR is nice, but since thier merger with 3Com the quality has gone down a bit. In my opinion any way.

Perhaps I'll have to scan the used computer gear pages and websites.

Any External modem will work with Linux, that is an external with a serial connection. I used a creative modem blaster flash 56k -II for awhile, then I realized how useless linux is with a dial up connection. I'm not writing programs or running a server so, I don't care for linux lol. Ohh, usually linux doesn't require specific external modem drivers like windows does, so all you have to do is plug it in, select the proper port in the KPPP and you're set :)

I have an external Creative Modem Blaster 56K-II just sitting around. I've used it on my SuSE boxes before without any probelms. Emails me if you're interested.
