I took some pictures of my fuel filter since I just replaced it...if anyone else is looking to replace theirs, here are some pictures on the location of it relative to the muffler... this is from a 3.3, not sure if its the same position on the 3.5...here they are:

The fuel filter on all 93-97 LH cars is in the same location.3.3 and 3.5.
