I have noticed my tires wearing on ouside edge in front. Today I noticed steerng getting very loose and at 65-70 mph starts to shimmy, and when coming to stop shimmys. while going over uneven surfaces I get a clunking sound. :reap: :reap: Does anyone have any ideas.

could be one of about 10 things... inner and outer tie rod ends are the most common cause for uneven tire wear, engine mounts are possible for the shudder, cradle mounts could be the loud clunking over small bumps. I'd do a search to see if you can pinpoint exactly what the problem is.

I assume this is on your 97 Intrepid. These cars are notorious for front end problems which can be a number of things. As gazetowards... said, start with tie rods, ball joints, control arms and go from there. Also another prime suspect to the clunking noise can be the steering gear itself.

To date I have replaced front cradle bushings, and passanger side cv shaft.
