Thanks!

Andrew, there's not a sea of black in my car. There's a mix of black vinyl and plastic, and light taupe plastic vinyl and leather.

Besides, I have a custom chrome shifter on the way. Need to do more wetsanding.

I also need to find the time to fit my soft-touch panels properly. Driver's knee bolster just refuses to fit correctly on the radio-side, and the glove box hangs quite a bit. I put the plastic bolster back it, and I figure not many people will notice the glove box once I fix the latch.

Can't believe you don't like the shifter... I think it looks great!
I guess I'm one of the few people who doesn't really care for chrome. The chrome window trim and door handles are more than enough.

That said, if I had an entirely black interior, I would most likely have a chrome shifter and chrome buttons in it. With my two-tone interior, it just clashes too much.

I was referring to the center stack/console area. It's all black on most LH cars. That's why I like the chrome shifter. If you have a custom one then no need I guess. :p

I noticed in the photos that alignment issues. Weird. Are they not original to the car? I can't remember.

Six months later, a number of updates... mostly of the gruesome variety. If you frequent the Enthusiast's Club, or LHForums, then you're likely aware that the car was totaled on 12/6/2010. The insurance company and the state did everything in their power to rip the car from my hands, but my hands are neither cold nor dead. March 11th, 2011, I got her back, and in pristine condition, despite what PennDOT wanted me to believe.

Long and short of it is I didn't pay attention for one second too long in rush hour, played pin the Special on the Tiburon, and lost. Hood, headlights, bumper cover, grill, AC condensor, radiator, fans, power steering system, all damaged beyond repair. I accepted the total lost settlement, bought it back from the insurance company, and restored it for FAR less money than her retail value, despite what Progressive thought. Then I danced with the state when they tried everything in their power to keep it off the road with their idiotic clerical errors and moronic record keeping.

Stuck with an R-title and higher insurance rates, but I'm still far better off than if I had taken a loan and bought a 2005/6 Charger/300 as my folks wanted me to do.

At any rate, she's back, better than ever, and ready for a few changes.

Taken the Friday I got her back:

3/15, at an impromptu 300M Club mini-meet with Alan (alandw) Dale (DaleFicken), and Mike (mabraham, rode in with Alan) in New Rochelle, NY (the Bronx):

Comparing my factory ride height to Alans H&R springs:

Newest "big" mod, done while she was getting a nose job. Genuine Mopar spoiler scored at a junk yard for $25:

I replaced the hood and trunk struts. What used to be difficult to open is now difficult to close! Paid about $48 out the door at Advance using the BIG30 coupon code online and in-store pick-up in Quakertown. $45 total after a 6% ebates.com discount. Not bad. Glad I waited, and certainly keeping the receipt so I can get a free new set in three years!

On the agenda:
- Blacking the interior a smidge -- Have already obtained a few deep slate interior kick pieces, DS weatherstripping, black A-pillars (installed), and recently discovered a 1999 300M with black OTIS cover and black visor pull-outs. Not sure if I'll keep the OTIS cover. It has controls for an aftermarket sunroof that appear to have a larger hole drilled for them than the factory piece. Not to mention the scratches on the front of the cover... bleh, I can usually find a decent black OTIS cover at that yard that I can modify. I'll just keep looking. Still need black oh-**** handles, then I can move forward with the B and C pillars, the visors, headliner, and sunshade... I'll think I'll call an upholstery shop for much of that.

- Audio -- Already purchased front components, wiring, distro block, 4-channel amp, etc (thank you Derek), and I have a custom radio bezel being made for me (thank you Shawn). Working on sub enclosure and everything else.

- Suspension, wheels/tires, brakes -- Looking into having my brand new front struts, mounts, endlinks installed soon, so I can get the alignment squared away and new tires installed on the SRTDs. In the meantime, I had two of my SRTDs repaired, ready to go back into service. Hoping to have them on again mid to late April. I want to do the brakes all around at the same time. Probably NAPA parts this time around. Haven't decided yet, may wait until late June since the current parts are still in great condition.

- Protection -- Now that the front end is essentially brand new, I'm going to look into a clear bra for the hood and bumper cover, and clear covers for the headlights to prevent hazing in the future. I'm also going to have whichever shop does this work tint the side and rear windows 25%. Nothing on the windshield, since PA inspection laws expressly forbid even so much as a sunstrip. A-holes.

Thankfully I qualified for a nice tax refund since I was on my own as a student last year and had paid $6600 in tuition. That's what is funding a lot of the maintenance items, and that's why I'm going local on a lot of them. I like to spend my tax refunds on the local economy.

That's my long-winded short story, thanks for looking!

The almost-reality of it made me sick. Luckily there was zero frame damage, and the airbags didn't deploy.

Luna was in much better shape than my car was after it's supposed demise.
Glad you got her back on the road.
Looking as great as ever.

Two years is probably good for an update, right?

She's still doing well. August 2011 Bergey's Dodge in Franconia told me I needed a new transmission. They couldn't be bothered to do any diagnosis, they just wanted me to pop for a $3,000 transmission. Instead I put that $3,000 into a down payment on a 2007 Dodge Charger R/T Road & Track and made my Special a fair-weather car. Feb '12 I lost my job and went on unemployment for 8 months, during which time I let the inspection and registration lapse on Luna to save money. October 2012 I received two job offers in the Metro Detroit area, and here we are today! Newly registered in Michigan DEC2012, and still a fairweather car.

JUL2012: Pre-Carlisle cleaning, installed the hover mod!! This is pretty much the last time I drove it before moving and re-registering in DEC.

OCT2012: All packed-up and ready to go. Still has most of her Carlisle luster, sat in the garage under cover since then.

MAR2013: Just back from the dealer having the trans pan dropped and filter replaced. This greatly improved transmission performance, and I'm hoping a natural flush later this year will get things back in order. New transmission? Kiss my casper-white rear-end! The dealer had the gall to put her through the torture chamber they call an automatic wash. I took her to work that day, and hit a touchless wash on the way home. These shots are right before a short 600 miles road trip to Cincinnati to see friends from Philly going to the horror convention in Sharonville.

11 years old this month (APR2013) and still the sexiest bish in town. Of course, with all the rolling wrecks around here the bar is set rather low.

There's a chance that she might be returned to DD duty soon. In effort to save money and buy a house in a few years, I'm strongly considering selling my Charger. I love it, it's badass, but it's expensive.

FEB2012: Just cleaned it. Pre-smoked clear corner installation.

Both rides look awesome, surprised I still haven't seen you around town.
I mostly drive around the Metro Parkway area of Sterling Heights/Troy, Mound Rd, 696, and Southfield around Telegraph. 99% of the time in the Charger.

Some updates.

My Charger has been down for the past month or so with worn out brakes and outer tie rods. My first two attempts to replace the front brakes were thwarted by rust... so I have been driving the M. In that time I have traveled to Tennessee twice for work, had company over for a weekend, traveled to Tennessee again for family, and had less-than-desirable weather, so I haven't resumed that brake job. If the weather report holds I'll get back to it this weekend. My M has as a result shot up to 107,750 miles as of arriving at work this morning. Can't say I'm unhappy; I love driving it. Put on 600 miles for a weekend jaunt in Cincinnati back around Easter, 1200 for a weekend in Knoxville, and just put on 700-800 for Indy. The cruise busted at some point but with a little direction and assistance from Club members at Indy it's back at 100% operation.

Thursday 5/16 she got some new shoes... Hankook Ventus V12 evo K110 245/40/20. No more loose fillings driving around Metro Detroit!! Plus I think the thicker meat really lends to a sharper look. Just say no to rubber bands, kids. In the same week I had one of my two damaged SRTD wheels repaired (one bent, the other curbed, had the curbed one refinished) and installed four new TPMS sensors. A lot of cash out the window, but the ride is immensly improved, and I finally have a fully functional TPMS after almost four years of the EVIC bonging at me for one of the sensors being bad. I'll be eating ramen noodles for a year now...

Saturday 5/18, some IMS action with a few members of the Club. Great meet, one I wish I could have made in the past. Great fun driving on a track where the current speed limit is 237 MPH and always subject to change! Then hanging out with a large group of people who understand "This thing of ours". I managed to take home the Sight and Sound award as well. Thank you!

Mileage at the hotel parking lot as I fired up the engine to leave: 107,400 (on the dot!)
Current mileage: 107,750

Some more updates:

Since my last post I've added almost 10,000 miles, attended Indy again as well as Carlisle and Ocean City twice, plus a trip to New Jersey to see family, replace the last strut and the sway bar bushings, and attend the NJ AllPar meet in Teterboro. She was hit shortly after that meet by a lady on prescription drugs, which turned out to be a blessing in disguise as it was in the area of some rust. I paid Jake to fix the rust and the womans insurance paid for paint and clearcoat, score.

Last year I did a myriad mods. Interior lighting, trunk lighting, finished installing Infinity Kappa speakers all around and running new wiring for their individual crossovers, etc. I also had to replace the battery twice and rebuilt the POS terminal once.

This year has seen a few updates, some large some small, as well as some maintenance.

Maintenance:
Replaced transaxle mount and both engine mounts
Replaced driver's side axle
Upper and lower grille inserts replaced with better condition pieces, plasti-dipped black
Front impact energy absorber replaced (original piece was still there from the accident, damaged, replacement unit from a yard car with correct fasteners)

Upgrades:
Sarona roof wing
Updated Winged Victory emblem on trunk
Clear fascia turn signal lenses
Clear mirror turn signal lenses
6000K switchback LED turn signal bulbs
6000K low-beam HID bulbs
LEDGlow blue LED trunk lighting kit /w multiple-effect control unit
LEDGlow blue LED engine lighting kit /w multiple-effect control unit
Repainted all four calipers silver
Lloyd interior floor mat kit with 300M emblem embroidered into front mats
99-01 flexible door water shields replaced shatter-prone 2002 pieces
Rear-door courtesy lamps wired
Interior door, dash, gear shift trim wrapped in 3M 1080 black carbon fiber vinyl
Deep Slate wood wheel installed with 3M 1080 black carbon fiber vinyl on wood section
Luna crescent-moon emblem installed in front grille
Intake plenum painted Deep Sapphire Blue with PS2 lettering
PDC cover painted Deep Sapphire Blue with LUNA in PS2

I also updated my audio system. I replaced the flashlight and voltmeter, and Kenwood head unit with:
Nexus 7 2012 tablet running CyanogenMod 11 based on Android 4.4.4 KitKat, awaiting CyanogenMod 12 based on Android 5.0 Lollipop
Rockford Fosgate 3SIXTY.3 digital sound processor
Front sound-stage rewired

These two updates have significantly improved the sound, and given me an almost unlimited media setup. Google Maps is now built-in, as well as Play Music. With bluetooth tethering on my phone I get the internet from my dash. TuneIn Radio gives me access to thousands of terrestrial radio stations around the world. If I so choose I can also use Pandora, Spotify, etc. I don't use them now since I have a subscription to Play Music All Access.

The tablet installation is 98% done at this point. I'm currently using the headphone jack for audio going to the DSP, since I haven't been able to get audio out of the USB port and charge at the same time. I'm hoping the Lollipop update will solve that since Google FINALLY baked USB Audio into AOSP. My research says CM11 and the upgraded Kernal I have should do all that for me now, but for whatever reason it doesn't. This winter I'm going to make a new bezel that puts the tablet up top and ATC down low, giving easier access to the tablet. I'm also now looking into getting a Joycon module to allow me to use my existing steering wheel controls to control the music on the tablet (volume up/down, track changes, etc).

As of today, she's entered hibernation in an enclosed garage. She's sharing it with another Club members Special.

Next year will hopefully see a new evap, trans cooler lines, solenoid pack, valve cover gaskets, rear cam plate seals, windshield, sunroof assembly, idler pulleys, belts, battery terminals and big 3, 160a alternator, and some unique new mods. Having a garage and a basement is a beautiful thing.
