I have been really trying to get a job selling Chrysler's, nothin I love more. I'm good at selling and I know my way around Chrysler's (options, features and whatnot, no soo much mechanical). So I turned in an applicatioin at Barreth Chrysler close to my town, and then to give the one-two punch, I put up another application on their website to let them know I was really interested. Well, somehow the webapplication made its way across the street to Barreth Ford. They called today really interested in me, and want me to come in tomorrow for an interview. I really could use a good sales job, I think I could make good money selling cars, but I think I could make more selling a car I would actually buy. What do you think I should do? What would YOU do? What would your mom do? wwdind? (what would d.i.net do?)

Thanks guys.

the guy that hires is the lead salesman for both dealerships. I want to let him know that I really prefer chrysler's without making him think I dont want the job at the ford dealership. What if they dont need anyone at the chrysler place, and If I say I dont wanna sell fords, he may think, "beggars arent choosers" and turn me away.

Really a personal decision. If you want a sales job period I would take the Ford job and then just let it be known that you would like the opportunity to sell Chryslers. I wouldn't be shy about telling the interviewer your story that you would prefer to sell Chryslers but could definitely live with selling Fords. Can't see him holding it against you if you are honest with him.

what cicago said.

A job is a job man, start at ford, and if you ask enough you'll maybe transfer to the other side of the street. I'd say start at ford for a while, then try to move to chrystlers, explain why you'd want to move etc etc.

Good luck man

Show him your knowledge of Chrysler products and he may naturally start you at the Chrysler dealership.

You might be better off at the Ford dealer anyways...you can sell an F-150 blindfolded and sleeping. Think "commission".

Good luck.

That one reminds me of Jimmy Cagney in 'Mister Roberts':

Never mind what I told you... I'm telling you!

It didnt go so good guys, he loved me all through the interview, and said that he could find an opening at the Chrysler place, becuase a guy over there wanted to sell fords. He then asked how old I was, and I said I would be 20 in July, he says you have to be 21 because of insurance to sell cars, but to come back after I turn 21. that sucks major balls yo...
