Ok. I had to take a trip down to DC again for the job. This time instead of flying, I rented a car and drove down. Why add mileage to my car, when i can get the job to pay for a rental, hehehe.

Anyways, i was supposed to get an Intrepid but they were out... so i got a 300M.

I never realized how useful the overhead console is. Not only does it give you your average MPG... but it also tells you your current MPG. For instance... if you are applying a LOT of gas (accelerating) it will fluctuate around 6-12mpg depending on how much you are flooring it. And if you are coasting down a hill applying next to no gas, it can go as high as 50mpg. I even got it up to 99mpg which i think is the limit. Hahaha.

Ok the question is.... how do I get one of these put in.

Are there any 2nd gen owners in NY/NJ that have installed one of these? If so, I want to talk to you. :) Im a spaz when it comes to installing stuff like this so I could use a hand. Was it a difficult install? My problem would be installing it so it "looks" factory. I dont want it to hang loose or something like that where its obvious it was installed aftermarket.

Let me know. Thanks

yes it is possible on first gen's. The only thing is, you have to make sure that you have the extended version of the body control module. If you dont have it, and are going to upgrade, it is worth fitting keyless entry at the same time. There are some wiring harnesses missing from base models too.

Thats a good question. Well one thing that spooked me out... whenever I drove through a tunnel... after about 2 minutes in it, my headlights automatically turned on. I was like WTF... but then I realized the car probably sensed it was dark and needed the lights on.

Most of the differences between the 300M and the R/T are feature based more than the actual ride itself. The 240watt 11 speaker system on the 300M can definitely crank louder than the 200watt 9 speaker on the R/T.

I also had a good amount of glare in the 300m... more than my R/T. That may be because I think the 300M dash was armor-all'ed at some point. DO NOT ARMOR ALL YOUR DASHES! Im thinking about getting my car detailed today. They like to armor all the inside, im going to tell them not to. The "brighter" your dash, the more glare you will get. It can be annoying.

As far as the ride goes... take it from me. All you Intrepid R/T owners... the ride is practically the same as the 300M. If I ever felt I got slightly more power on 300M... that can easily be obtained by droping back a gear on the R/T and smoking whichever riceboy in question. :)

Hope that answers your question.
