Hey. I am planning on getting rid of my intrepid due to many mechanical problems its given me. Yes, I got screwed at the sale.

Anyways, it looks like the 94-98 Mustangs are what I really want up ahead. I was browsing on eBay, and I saw a 5.0L 1994 mustang GT. I thought the stopped making 5.0's in 1993, then in 94 they went to the new body style and had the 4.6L GTs? Someone help me out?

Thanks!

"Last of the V8's!!" - mechanic in "Road Warrior"

Man I love that movie...

Ford introduced the modular 4.6L for the Mustang's (it had previously been used in the T-Bird, and a 300-320hp version in the Lincoln Mark VIII) in the 1996 model year, with 1995 being the last year you could get the historic 5.0L pushrod V8.

In 1994, the year you are looking at the five litre in the Mustang GT produced [email protected] and [email protected] Not the strongest numbers, but you have to keep in mind that with the popularity of the pony car, there are literally thousands of aftermarket parts, and it is incredibly cheap to "hop up" a Mustang into a true screamer.

Need more info? Let me know.

The oldfoxbody 5.0 Mustangs are dirt cheap to mod! As far as I know the model you are talking about has the same 5 Litre engine. So while stock numbers might not be all that, you can mod the hell out of them. Fords have pretty strong rears too.

I'm telling you bro, once you go RWD/V* you'll never go back :) They are the bomb to drive!

I think I am finding out more and more that if you aren't the origianl owner of a Dodge/Chrysler car, you are going to get screwd outta some cash at some point in time due to poor maintence/stupid driving.........

I hope dodge does something about this someday. If I woulda known that I would have some of the problems my 'trep had, I woulda got the Grand Prix for $1000 less sittin on the lot next to my 'trep...... BUt it doesn't pay to get rid of the 'trep now, got too much money in it..

I don't know about you guys but, I love my *****. The only car I'd trade her in on would be a 300m with the sport and performance group option.

Although I'd also consider an Intrepid R/T, or a Porsche...

Thanks for the info guys. I doubt I'll get a 5.0L, just because of the sky high insurance for kids and stangs. I'll prolly end up getting a crummy 3.8 V6 stang. It'll be slow, but cheap to mod and chicks dig them.

I never knew the 5.0's were so weak! They have 1hp more than our 3.5L treps (stock). Thats crazy...

Those old ford 3.8's need some special attention. they like to blow head gasgets every 60K miles or so.

sigh...you guys are making me miss the 5.0lx I just sold this spring, over 300HP, 40,000 original miles. Now that was a car that could beat the Trep without even trying. Now if only I can get my movies uploaded I'd share my smokeshow videos I made the day before I delivered the car to its new owner, nothing like running out of parking lot while spinning the rear tires

I got rid of the car because all it was doing was sitting under the cover collecting dust. I was at the point of ready to rip it apart adn do something radical (roll cage, NOS etc) but it was going to be hard to rip apart a 50,000 mile car. so..I decided it would be better to sell the car and buy a new toy....still deciding what to do...leaning toward a bike

I know it's not a dodge but if anyone wants to see the car go here

What is in that TSB LHSer? My brothers cougar has the 3.8 in it, and at the 40K mark, the previous owner (my uncle bill, one of the best mechanics I know, Used to race stock cars) Had to replace the head gasgets. By the time he diagnosed the problem, BOTH were blown. So he Re-built the whole engine for fun (new bearings, machined cylenders, cut the valves..... etc)
Last year, at 87K, he found that one of the heads was blown AGAIN. so he sold the car to my brother for $800. on the way over (they just filled it with water and drove it to our house) the other head gasget blew. So my brother and my dad did the heads. turned out to be a $1200 car total.....
but back to the point.... what did they do to fix the head gasget problem? Because if the car blows it out again, my bro is going to want to do whatever it takes to get it right.
