OK, two interesting stories rapped up into one... Just got off the phone with my dealer pertaining to two things :1.) when my extended warranty runs out, and 2.) about the 2nd gen recall pertaining to the power seat bolts. According to MY paperwork, my extended warranty should run out this coming up May... but according to HIS paperwork my warranty runs out in May of 2005. I triple checked all of my paperwork and mine says May of 2003. Well hell if his stuff says 2005 then so be it. Now about the recall. He told me and I quote:"Yeah, I knew about that for a while now. ALOT of customers have been coming in and we have been fixing this problem." He also told me that "it'll take just 2 hrs or so to be fixed". Very cool. He asked me if my drivers seat shifts, and I told him "yes". He said to make an appoinment with them when ever I want to get this done. So I'm thinking maybe next week or the weekafter whichever fits our schedule.
P.S.
Since I like to bring my trep in there so much for MINOR crap, he knows who I am.. so he HAD TO mention that a 2001 R/T was dropped off yesterday for a blown tranny. I laughed, because he said that the kid was drag racing. I asked him what color it was. He told me dark red. I said "does it have a body kit and ram air scoops on it?" His reply: "yep". Heh... that car is tight. ;)

Sounds like he's describing the previous seat-shifting TSB and not the new recall. I just had that TSB taken care of, and if my dealership had heard of the recall they would have done both jobs at once. I know they checked for recalls, because they added an addendum to my owner's manual. I don't think anyone, dealerships or owners, have been notified "officially" of this new recall. I got a letter from DC for the "storage bin" recall, so I expect to hear from them on this as both are safety related.

I must have missed something.

BTW....how do you blow a tranny just drag racing? I don't do any drag racing, but I do like to gun it close to red line whenever possible. I only take it up to or a little over the speed limit though. My tranny is doing fine and the tranny fluid is only slightly darker than new fluid. Well, as of the time of this post my tranny was doing fine. Hopefully I just didn't jinx myself.

Who is who?? The dealer or the idiot with the red R/T? The dealer is Lexington Park Dodge, and the idiot with the red R/T is some punk kid. I tried telling him about the site, but his nose is way up there (stuck up). I had told Mark (00Chryslerintrepid) about the guy prior to me even posting this thread. His car is mega nice. But again the kid needs a whoopin.
Brian: I'm just telling you what the guy Ron at the service department told me what happened to his R/T. I have no idea either how you can blow the tranny while racing. Maybe he has NOS? :mg:

I BELIEVE IF you rev that engine up pretty good and then DROP the tranny in gear while high rev, :mg: That (after a couple of times, if you make it that far) Could POSSIBLY do what you are talking about, when drag racing. Have you ever heard of that before:confused:

Another possible way to suck a tranny while racing is consistantly brake-standing the torque converter past its limit. Stock converters are not usually made to slip past about 1500 RPM. After that, if you're reefing on the brakes to get a better launch, you start asking for converter problems. If you lose a few vanes in the converter, the pump will usually grind them up and pass the shrapnel through all of the rest of the tranny plumbing.

I run a 3200 RPM stall converter in my drag car, but it's not the easiest (or most efficient) thing to drive on the street. (Fun on the track, though!)

I wasn't doubting you Crombie. I was just wondering what else he might have been doing to it. The brake stands would explain a lot.

This punks car is mega nice? In what way(s)?
No problem Brian... here's what I saw (I was at the car wash when he pulled in): it's a red 2000 R/T, body kit, (looked like a) Taurus curved spoiler, ram air scoops, dual exhaust, tint, and from the bass that I heard a killer sound system. He got out and looked like Eminem. I snickered to myself and said "**** it I'll talk to him". Yeah it was like George Bush talking to Bin Laden. No luck in a nice conversation.
