So I checked my vin when I bought the car. Fuel rail was recalled on it of course, and was done, as well as every other recall when it came out.

So after a few months of inactivity and proper storage on the road *because the car wasnt up to spec back then and I wanted to take it off to save cash, which I did, big time.* been driving it for two weeks, and have been smelling some gas. Especially when the vents were on.

Saw my mechanic buddies in their shop tonight.

They said my right fuel rail is pissing out gas.

They're not sure if it's an injector for sure because of the large plenum in the way, but im just going to pay them at their ridiculously LOW hourly rate to replace the parts that cost so little. To have it done RIGHT, because they've always done a top knotch job, and care about my car and my safety.

I'll call dodge after with my bill. ;)

$30 an hour in a professional shop of theirs compared to the local 80ish is a steal. Said it'll take 4 hours. (rough estimate, but they're usually dead on.)

So we'll see if I can't improve that.. well too low to calculate fuel milage is afterwards, and low idle.. :D
Getting done when I wake up tommorrow. ;)

I'll bring my digi when they do the repair. Get lots of great pics for you guys and gals. ;) (all proper gaskets will be replaced too etc.)

Bad milage? weird idle? LIttle top end power? no gas smell? replaced proper sensors? wait a few months, it'll start to smell like gas.

GOod night, my gf's harassing me to come to bed. ;)

I'll just bring the bill to dodge and fight fight fight!

But yes, they're very confident mechanics that do regular engine swaps and upgrades all the time, performance upgrades. So something like this.. took them 3 mins to find it after casual snooping.

You have to take it to get done at a Chrysler or else they wont honor it. It is a full recall, and can be done on your car no matter how many times it has been done before. It is a major safety no-no that Chrysler is at fault for. They must fix it for no charge.

Actually, thats what im going to do instead. The fuel rail comes as a single piece? or set or what not that can only be bad for like 500 Canadian.

So come Monday. I'll call up Dodge and yell away if need be. I'll bring all the recall prints, call Chrysler Canada before hand, and all the goodies. I'll be their worst nightmare if they give me trouble. ;)

Does anyone have a Chrysler Canada contact number? I can't seem to find it anywhyere.

Tried calling my dealer and I get the usual about if it's recalled once, that's it. the rest of the repairs are up to me. (as in bringing my car in to them so they can gouge me for a high cost.)

If it comes down to me paying it, the rail apparently runs for $500 Canadian and I have friends that have a shop that can do it for like $30 an hour, and yes, the labor is cheap. THey also can be made very happy with beer. ;)

Basically, I just need Chrysler Canada's number to see if they say anything different (without mentioning my call to the dealer first).
