Some more pics of the REC pre-install.

REC fits perfectly in the NAV Radio Surround Bezel when mounted in the NAV Dash Bracket. As it should as it's all OEM!

Need to verify the Double DIN Boss aftermarket NAV unit fits with the Crutchfield supplied Bezel and brackets.

Manual Temp Control fits in the bezel opening no problems. Most of these NAV bezels were in high end trim level models and most likely had ATC. w00t!

Phase Ia.1 is complete. Spare REC NAV installed in the SLT.

Looks like the 6 disc changer section doesn't work. Need to find the knob for the Joystick.

Slight procrastination today. Couldn't install the Splash Guards due to work constraints!

Had to do Vendor Escort Duty today for the guy to PM the Air Conditioning units on the Examiners. No Durango progress until this weekend.

Had some time and attempted to install the rear splash guards.....ran into technical difficulties. Instructions indicated I needed to remove 2x T30 screws per side to install. No problem except the screws aren't T30 or Torx at all. There are 3 screws and the one I don't need to remove is a T30 but to two that need to be removed aren't. Looks to be an Allen head but i didn't have access to my allen wrenches at the time. Not sure if they're SAE or Metric. I'll get both sets of wrenches out of storage this weekend.

One of the Spiffy new splash guards with the Rams Head Logo molded in.

Those are torks heads. Do you have that red driver kit from HF? if so, that bit is in there. Looks T20 or smaller.

The screw at the right in the picture or the top of the fender is a T30. The other two are regular allen heads. Not sure why two of the three are allen and not Torx.

Need to head to the dealer and buy new bolts. I'm sure I'll fook the existing ones up trying to remove them. Time to break out the vise grips or drill and the PBlaster. These bastards aren't coming out by regular allan or Torx bits as I tried today!

Discovered that the spare wheel that's on the Drivers Rear is different than the 4 that are normally installed on the car! The steel wheels normally on the car are referred to as "Road" wheels. The spare steel wheel is the same 17x7 size but the cut outs and contours of the center of the wheels are different. The Wheel cover doesn't fit on the Spare wheel as a result. WTF?

Road Wheel

Spare Wheel

Found a used 17x7 Road Wheel for $40 shipped. I need to get a new tire for the wheel the spare replaced. Figure I'll have a matching set of 5 Road wheels and put the new tire on the Road wheel coming in and put the spare in storage.

Will be doing Phase I.123 this weekend for the Audio Upgrade. Will be installing the Kicker 6.5" 2-way speakers in the front/rear doors. Stockers are super bass heavy and seriously lacking in Mid/Highs.

If I get motivated I might do the Phase II install with the aftermarket Bluetooth NAV double DIN with Backup camera. Probably not as laziness and alcohol consumption will undoubtedly rise exponentially!

Took the 'Rango on 3 different 40 mile round trips and I have to say it's way more comfortable than the Special. Granted the Special is at 160k miles with trashed struts but it never really rode well. Averaged 22mpg at 67 mph.

The Durango reminds me of an old Cadillac with the "Floaty" easy on the azz ride!
