Cool car, always liked the Jettas. Glad to see it's getting a new lease on life. I may have skipped over this, but did you do anything about the piston with impact damage on it?

well, all i did with the pistons is replace the piston rings, and sand off the top a little bit so it could be a little smoother, will have more pics tonight of the engine in, now i am in my garage working on the car and the pics are on the camera.

Looks good! Did you replace that pesky tensioner?
my dad didnt want to, he said its good and holds tight, but idk, he might change it after the engine is all done, today we were struggling with the turbo, and we still weren't able to put it on, i guess it will have to wait till next saturday, it seems like the car will be done next saturday or sunday. heres one pic i have of the engine inside...

heres another pic of the plastic cup holder cover i was working on, i believe this is the finished product,

yaayyy!! i got it started today (without the slave cylinder (should be coming in on wed.)) it started right up, and best of all, no cel or anything, im soo happy lol, should be getting it registered and plated this weekend. we are probably going to end up taking the intrepid off the insurance and possibly sell it in the near future..(possibility) im pretty sure that the intrepid is going to be taken off the insurance.

Cool. Glad you got it going. Those little 1.8's are fun to drive. Hopefully someone updated that timing tensioner, even if it felt tight, if its the old style, they tend to just snap all of the sudden. Sorry to hear the trep is being decommissioned.

found another jetta same color and body style, that needs a new engine, most likely getting it, if i dont get it then my uncle probably will. Will update everyone on the situation. but this one im looking at is a 2.0 engine. if i get it the 2.0 jetta will be a fix and sell and the 1.8t will be kept

I would have replaced the tensioner...cheap insurance if they are known to be troublesome...

Why is the Intrepid being decommissioned and possibly sold?

well, too many cars and its the oldest one we have. My dad, (the one that drives the intrepid) he wants my brother's ford explorer, he really likes the suv, and then he wants to get my brother an audi or something along those lines.. and its already showing signs of oil leak or something, the block is wet from oil on the intrepid, but both our fords, dont show a drop of oil. the intrepid has 67k miles and already oil on the engine, but the explorer has 110k and no oil anywhere on the outside of the engine
